The Murray Lotus & AMP3 Charity Trackday 2011!
Re: The Murray Lotus & AMP3 Charity Trackday 2011!
Think I've got some brief footage if you from behind Mike, before you disappear on the straight. A quick review of the footage shows quite an array if SE'ers.
I'll get the vids encoded and up tonight hopefully.

Cheers Ferg. The only picture I have is of it parked in the pits. And for once I was on track for most of the session

Not sure I like the sound of that thoughFerg wrote:Think I've got some brief footage if you from behind Mike

Mike you are in my video too. Click the previous link.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).![]()
Re: The Murray Lotus & AMP3 Charity Trackday 2011!
Thanks to Shug, Andy and everybody else that helped to make the day such a laugh. Wasn't driving so just doing some paxing.
After bating Dom for getting overtaken by DDtB in the Golf, he took me out for a couple of laps at the end of the session. Good skills ... and I can confirm that the engine is deffo not producing as much power as it should be ... goes well in the corners though
Cheers,
Robin

Thanks to Andy, Shug, Mark and everyone else. Awesome time was had.
Trackday was brilliant, best one for a while, think I was on track for most of the session. Some great lapping with Clarkie and Stu towards the end.
Carnage in the evening as usual.
Jim, the ariel photies are absolutely fantastic, good job

Argh. Two reasons I passed him then...robin wrote: After bating Dom for getting overtaken by DDtB in the Golf, he took me out for a couple of laps at the end of the session. Good skills ... and I can confirm that the engine is deffo not producing as much power as it should be ...
1) Pax (and a tall one at that!)
2) Nae bhp
Dom, do those checks we talked about and maybe get it dyno'd somewhere you can trust to help with further diagnostics etc. Who knows, with a following wind we may have a re-match at Oulton

Jim, amazing video. Thanks so much for taking the time and energy to plan and execute!
As ever your soundtrack makes up a big part of the presentation - cheeky bit of Genesis, what can us 40-somethings say!!
The shot of Benny at the hairpin has serious potential. Also, Kerry, you are in there big style and whilst the resolution is compromised, it's surely worth getting a blow-up for the BBQ hut
Jim if you could get the right kit there is some future potential in this kind of aerial stuff I imagine? Light levels were a bit low at the weekend I suppose.
And finally...could you get perm from KH to land on the Pit Straight?! Imagine the reception

Oh, and just while Tut is smiling smugly at his Gentleman Driver of the Day award (yes, really), can I point out that STILL, a vehicle with a reg ending "TUT" had to be trailered away from KH
Last seen abandoned on the back of said trailer outside the Travelodge West End. Rich pickings for the local neds. However they found nothing of value, other than Scotty's pimped T5

Re: The Murray Lotus & AMP3 Charity Trackday 2011!
Would like to take the time to add my thanks, it was a brilliant day, one of the most enjoyable track days that I can remember. Driving standards were very high and it's always good to catch up with everyone on what unfortunately seems to be a less frequent basis these days..
I really appreciate the time that Andy, Shug, the rest of the AMP3 team and indeed Craig and the Murray Lotus Team Team put into the event and I hope BHF get a good result from your efforts.
Loved having the R8 out on what seems to be now it's only annual track appearance, It behaved very well and has re-enforced my whole thought process for choosing it in the first place, also great fun with the massive hood ornament camera chasing Andy round the hairpin at crazy angles to try and keep him in frame as he had the GT3 on opposite lock. Having looked at some of Frazer's video work I'm looking forward to seeing the output (my gopro footage looks pretty good in it's own right..), whoever had the winning bid for his generous photoshoot prize is a lucky person..
Sorry we couldn't stay much later on the night but we both had pressing commitments in the morning, I must make an effort to stay for the whole duration if this happens again next year.
Jim, great pics from the Microlight and well done for braving the wind. I know how challenging a gusty day can be! OlberJ, and Ross have some great pics too.
I'll post some Go Pro links on Utube soon.
Finally, big thanks to Scott Robson for doubling my R8 fleet... for some reason I can't get the whole chase car camera thing to work so well with the new one though??

Cheers, Peter

Oh, I had the right kit alright. User error and really blustery conditions limited the scope for better pics. Next time I try it everything should be 10x better, particularly by getting a proper photographer to use the camera whilst I do the piloting stuffcampbell wrote: Jim if you could get the right kit there is some future potential in this kind of aerial stuff I imagine? The helmet visor made it really hard to see through the camera viewfinder (I had practiced with the camera but hadn't thought to put the helmet on) and I am sure there must be better settings to use other that just auto everything. Also, I hadn't realised that I didn't need to zoom in so much since the images are actually huge sized so could have been zoomed/cropped on the laptop. Live and learn.
Anyone coming along the the LEGS meet next Sunday who brings a camera can do it properly

Ps, landing on the straight would be easy... Flying under the bridge would be a challenge

Re: The Murray Lotus & AMP3 Charity Trackday 2011!
I forgot to say thanks to Brandon and Craig, actually. Great to see Murray Lotus at the sharp end of what we all love best once more. I was just talking to some folks about the "hot lines" we now have to the manufacturer themselves through both this dealer involvement and of course "our Graeme" and his role at the turnip factory. Graeme naturally got his excuses in early for not making KH, something about holding the fort at Frankfurt (as opposed to freezing his buns off at Knockhill) however he's had his fair share...I remember him running around doing his duster on my first experience of a Murray day at KH, back in 1999.
