The builders saw them coming.

I liked aspects of the interior, although it was too tall. Was not keen on the front elevation of the building.

From a logical and financial point it didn't make sense... However, I thought it was pretty awesome, grand designs tends to follow a pattern of these "one off" builds that all look the same due to folks obsession with glass!

That was a true one off and while the exterior was restricted by the regulations the interior was pretty awesome (in my opinion) and the views were spectacular...

First Grand Designs project in a while I thought I'd like to live in... Clearly with a remote situated garage and some sturdy brollies!

Worked brilliantly and even though they had to paint the interior wood (which had me moaning at the TV) that, in the end, actually added to the feel inside. Excellently done and glad to see a project where talk of money wasn't bandied about, but clearly spent in the right places - finish looked impeccable. Thought the guy came off very well for a mentalist.

Just watching it now. Not a good start with the crane sinking into the sand. Loved his Irish attitude, "how much is it going to cost?" "ah well begorah, that would be between a fair amount of money, and an awful lot of money"

I thought that they would have to cover that lovely wood up, a shame but inevitable.

I agree with you Shug, often the Grand Design houses are great show houses but I can't imagine them being comfortable homes. The pier house looked like the kind of place you could be comfortable in and kick back and enjoy it without feeling you are in a warehouse/ showroom / library / museum.
I did fret about where you would have to leave the car though.
