Jag D-type from a MX5 ?

Post by Sanjøy » Wed Aug 30, 2006 8:58 am

Anyone read this months Evo about the Westie that is based on the MX5 platform? 7K for kit and ~1k for the donor.
Last few lines mentioned that they shouild / could make a Westfield XI type classic on this platform with the power upgrades available from BBR.

Imagine if they got the rights to reproduce the D type and put it on this platform for similar price ... :love

Sanjoy - don't be a muppet...

A D Type with a wheezy 1.8l 4 pot? I think you'd be rightly hung!

The D Type that Rich is talking about is how to do it - Jag mechanicals and a proppa straight 6 engine (related to the one in the original) Anything else would be rediculous....

The XI, on the other hand, would be a blinding idea :thumbsup

Think you hit the nail on the head, Jag mechanicals or Jap ? BBR offer 170bhp SC conversion. Granted you are then spending a wedge on a shed.

You have no soul.......

BTW, the originals had 250bhp and a live axle - 170 for an undoubtedly heavier rep (GRP & a steel spaceframe is gotta be heavier than the original alloy monocoque) with a whiney, soulless jap lump is like having an MR2 "Ferrari" - silly

Jag mechanical bits can be pretty sturdy - it's the bodies and comedy electrics that let them down.
