Winter tyres. Discuss.
Re: Winter tyres. Discuss.
I just ordered some winter tyres for the mini clubman, the current tyres haven't got much life left, and I spent most of last winter driving in Germany on winter tyres, then back home just before christmas, the difference was huge, I'll see how they go.

Which tyres did you go for Giles?
Nankang Snow SV-2's on Nicola's MINcer are improving according to her - felt 'loose' when first fitted.
I've yet to try them. I dare say they won't come into their own until it's proper cold.

I think winter tyres are always going to feel a bit loose when fitted, but you get used to them.
I've nearly completed the fleet conversion, just my car left to go. Given the temperatures I'll hold off just a little longer. The Longterm forecast has snow on the 9th November http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/14days.asp, but I don't think I'd bet my house on that. Bonfire night looks like a washout - hope they are wrong, it's the only excitment all year in Kemnay.

Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25, seem to get good reviews, and are supposed to be not too bad in the warmer weather, hopefully find out soon.alicrozier wrote:Which tyres did you go for Giles?

the goodyear ultragrip i have on are good.
quite an interesting aspect is when i touch the throttle just even a bit, u can hear the noise of the tyres change to almost a "digging in" sound.
like rubber being worked.
im quite careful onthe driving on the new tyres, wont be sporty on them.

I've driven alot of hire cars (mainly Germany, but a few in Switzerland) with snow tyres on warm dry roads, I remember they used to feel terrible, now they are much better, last week I was travelling from Berlin to Dresden in a golf, about 15deg C and at 180kph on the autobahn they were fine. Not sure what make they were though.

I ran the family S-Max on Yokohama W Drive last year and have them on a spare set of alloys ready to go back on in the next few weeks. Nothing but praise for the way they performed last year. Big

Have you received an email today?

No email here at all (neither the seasonal increase one, or any thing else)
Website still says unable to estimate delivery

Also noticed the web site order page wrongly lists the price in EUR (essentially taking the £ amount, and sticking EUR after it)
Silly mytyres, 1EUR doth not £1 make!
