NOV gear works well if it's handling tubulars, ie collars, pipe, casing and riser. The problem comes when you try to get it to do something oddball. big running tools like 36" conductor, housings and the like. Then you have to make sure that you are using the correct well center else it's a real ball ache. In auto mode it's very fast but things slow down somewhat when for whatever reason you have to switch to manual. Over all though it is a giant leap forward compared to the norm.kerryxeg wrote:Dig holes in the ground to find the black gold!
Nice piece of kit Mike, I'd be interested to know how well all the NOV kit works out- we've got something similar coming in 2013 although it's on a Jack-up.
Good to know and sounds familiar. Our system will be totally reliant on the pipehandler, I just hope reliability has improved in the last 10 years. Right I better stop before this turns into Drillers.comMikie711 wrote:NOV gear works well if it's handling tubulars, ie collars, pipe, casing and riser. How interesting. My Mrs used to use that all the time (she is from acting stock) and says it has gone downhill a bit recently, Wiki seems to be the better, more informative proposition - what are your thoughts?colintinto wrote: A few years back I was also one of the founders of a wee website that became http://www.imdb.com
