This is Stephen's misses, so he'll probably kill me when he reads it, but hey, he's sleeping off a Christmas night out!

Definitely cut out the crisps, a bag a day for a year is like glugging down on a 5kg bottle of cooking oil...
Removing munchies from the house removes temptation (we're still working on that cupboard...) & then just don't walk down that aisle in the SM (or the fizzy pop one!)
The others have said the sensible stuff already, so I won't repeat (too much typing), just make a little change each week & stick to each one as you go along.

Another thing you could try as a motivator - put the money you would have spent on crisps, chocolate, fizzy pop, (too many) take outs, etc into a jar; when there's enough treat yourself to an extra track day for all your hard work!

Good luck to all the boys trying to make a difference to themselves & their families!

Liking that idea, ta :thumbsup

In substantial amount of pain today, dont think I have been overdoing it, just an indication of how shockingly unfit I am.

Cutting out the carbs did it for me. It's all in the mind though and 80% of it is diet.

No point in a 5 mile run then eating a takeaway after wards :)

Kenny, a stretching routine may sound silly but it will help you no end.

Well done Kenny :thumbsup

Started on a similar path in July and both me and Gail have lost 2 & 1/2 stones each since the beginning of August. Came back from holiday and didn't like the photos

The beer and wine are a killer because the calories in both are huge plus it leads to eating the wrong things after a few :cheers

I've replaced the beer on social occassions with a much lesser quantity of Jack Daniels and Coke Zero! :D All counted in of course in the daily intake of 1500 cals. Actually prefer being on a diet, food is more enjoyable as you eat more fish, fruit & veg etc

Once you start to lose weight the motivation really kicks in as you have so much more energy. I've gone back to running as it fits in with work and family stuff easier than going to the gym. Any excercise is better than none, don't over train though I've had a few injuiries over the years particularly with my back, the temptation is always there to train harder to get the results quicker

Cheers

10-4

Most parts are ok now except from neck and shoulder which has been an ongoing problem for 20 years. Was trying some stretching earlier and helped a lot :thumbsup

Good effort Clarkie, hopefully that will be me soon. Went shopping today, £150 quid, healthiest shop I have ever done by quite a margin. Few days in now and feeling really happy about the diet side of things, not missing anything at all. Got loads of fruit. veg, and a massive mixed raisin and nut bag for work.

Bros girlfriend has convinced my to try the gym with her (been trying to get me to go for a while) so going to pay for a months membership and see how that goes.

Got a good website bookmarked with a whole stack load of vids showing me lots of workouts (compound exercises, thanks Jon) I can do with my dumb bells, quite enjoy just doing that in the living room while watching tv.

Allowed myself one treat today and had a pint of guiness.

Well, hats off to Kenny, He joined DDtB and I for 16 miles of our cycle on Sunday, and set a not bad pace, but more over, kept going without loads of rest stops. Dave & I (and a few others) have been cycling regularly for quite a while, so we maybe had a slight advantage. Then, after the F1 we were all in the pub, and Kenny still managed to exercise restraint when ordering the food. More than I can say for myself!

As were the mussels. It was just their sudden and violent reapperance that disappointed.
