Independence
Re: Independence
Surely if there is a 3rd vote option (Devo Max) then there should also be a 4th option (Devo Zero) for those who think that the Scottish Parliament is a waste of resources?? (not necessarily my point of view of course).

Re: Independence
Thanks Mikie.
The Big Debate on BBC1 (Scotland) at 10.35 tonight was a hoot also.
Nicola Sturgeon came off the best of the 3 politicians.
Jim Wallace seemed to get redder and redder as the questions wore on and at one point I thought he was going to blow a blood vessell.
Johann Lamont spent too much time finding ways to dig Wee Eck.
Lesley Riddoch was relatively poetic, but as a non-polito she was onto a winner from the start.
I haven't laughed so much since the Only Fools and Horses Christmas Special of about 20 years ago, but at least the Beeb have got things stirred up and hopefully we can look forward to some facts and figures rather than blind assertions (from all sides).
Based purely on performances and persuasiveness tonight, I'd expect the Yes vote to get it. Just.

Re: Independence
I'm not so sure Campbell. There is a long way to go and a lot of misunderstandings to wade through. Also not so sure that the truth will win out in the end as argument and counter arguments rage on in the press and on TV I fear a balanced view approaching the truth will be neigh on impossible to find. Bear in mind that the majority of the electorate will get there information from the tabloid press and bite sized news on the TV and not by systematic research weighing up the pro's and con's.

Re: Independence
Just yes , and why bloody not?, Nicola was top class...what a pile oh numptys she was surrounded by, the SNP are now head and sholders ahead in politics and can stand their ground much to the anoince of the the rest....if we are to be perswaded by the antics of a compleat non starter from Labour the ramblings from Lord J W ... thank god for L R for a little common sence. I expect the people against independance to argue........but that was a shocking display from the opposition.campbell wrote:Thanks Mikie.

It's not about clever politics or politicians but simple economics, still No for me, show me the facts, one's I can analyse and trust

if evolution don't take care of it, redesign it
Re: Independence
However eloquent a politician might be, if I can't feel I can align with their policies, then I can't vote for them.
Re: Independence
I think the SNP are in power because of how weak the other parties are, however it doesn't mean that all those voting for them want independence.
The SNP opposition is Labour and they are on a Leadership merry-go-round and their latest leader will probably last until the local Elections on 3rd May then I think they may be looking for another one.
