Gearbox Codes

Post by smee » Tue Feb 28, 2012 11:06 pm

Me again.

Can't seem to find a code on the SELOC wiki page for a

G4BSV

other than the letter code converter

What kind of diff is a BSV?

Would this be too low geared in 1st and 2nd for the elise? 3rd 4th and 5th look to be the same as the B4BP and FD 4.2

Thanks again, anyone have any farming or pet questions I'll gladly return the favour!

Cheers Hiscot.

Working from this, is it correct?

Gearbox Codes The first letter is the gearset

Letter 1 2 3 4 5
b 2.923 1.750 1.308 1.033 0.848
c 3.167 1.842 1.308 1.033 0.765
g 3.250 1.895 1.308 1.033 0.848
k 2.923 1.750 1.222 0.935 0.765
l 2.923 1.750 1.222 0.848 0.649
m 3.167 1.842 1.222 0.848 0.649
r 3.250 1.895 1.308 1.033 0.765
s 3.250 1.895 1.222 0.848 0.649
t 3.250 1.895 1.222 0.935 0.714
v 3.250 1.895 1.222 0.935 0.765
w 3.167 1.842 1.308 1.033 0.714

The number that follows the gear set number is the Final drive ratio

4 = 4.200 (15/63)

5 = 4.062 (16/65)

6 = 3.938 (16/63)

7 = 3.647 (17/62)

The right hand letters are the diff

BP = Open

BPQ = Quaife LSD

BST = Torsen

G4BSV is the MGZR160 gearbox. It has not great ratios,a 4.2 FD and it has a standard open diff.

Box on eBay?

Anyone know what ratios an MG TF 160 has? Have the chance of a complete low miles car.

If you're after a CR gearbox I happen to have one of these in amongst my spares inventory that will also be up for grabs when I get back to the UK.

Gearbox is believed to have led a hard life whilst in the back of one of tuts Elises at some point and also Steve Brands Elise (so its been tracked) but I had it in my Elise for a while and it was fine.
