Adjusting S2 headlights

Post by simon » Sun Aug 27, 2006 6:43 pm

Since lowering the front of the car, my dipped lights seem even worse now. I'd like to raise the beam up a little before it starts getting dark early so does anyone know how to do this?
It doesn't mention anything about it in the service manual, just how to access the lights and change bulbs.

I had to replace a dip beam bulb tonight. No need to take the wheel off for this, turn wheel full lock (toe out) for the 2 plastic screws at the bottom and full lock the other way (toe in) for the upper screw. :)

2 for 1 at halfords so went for the 50% brighter jobbies (£15).
Dunno if they are any better...

I did it with just the wheel turned out but that's with the 175s on, 195s require the toe in. No plastic screws on mine though :?

Stick piece of paper on the wall, turn on lights, trace light patten roughly on paper, then adjust them both a little higher?

I used that technique when replacing my S1 headlights, seemed to work ok for lining up the new ones.

No, turn on lights, draw on garage wall, adjust, test drive, realise they're way too high, leave until next night.
Adjust, test drive, still a little high, lower a bit, sorted :thumbsup

Bung in bulbs, look at pattern on fence, tweak up a bit, drive, pass MOT :thumbsup

Yeah, my old car had 3 thumbsrcews to remove the cover, accessible from the wheelarch. The Exige needs the front half of the wheelarch liner removed (it's in 2 pieces), then the cover is retained with 3 allen screws.
