Let's just say it's not dull, that's for sure. First proper drive in new Elise S 220 tonight to remind me of the cars bit.....

Well I like the press release even if it is aimed at those who like a good conspiracy, if nothing else it has some credibility and a blunt air of honesty. Certainly not your normal PR department output so I suspect it was handed over to them.
With today's communication technology a few rumours can be more than enough to take a company to the brink. I'm sure there are plenty issues to deal with at Lotus, but in the car industry it is normally a thin line between success and failure. So the current status seems to be no change to the plan, but yes there are a few other areas of uncertainty to add into the mix. I'm just concerned that the plan seems to be a success or failure roll of the dice which I'm sure must be on the mind of the new owners. So I'd expect a degree of re-evaluation before proceeding.

Such a shame that all this is happening on the brink of the launch of what for me is the most exciting Lotus model for 20 odd years: the V6 Exige. I wonder how all this uncertainty will affect sales? Very badly I suspect - you'd be pretty brave to splurge 50k on a car from a company which could go into administration.

It is so bloody convoluted and ridiculous that anything could happen and probably will. The combinations of who owns what, what it is called, and what it will be called next week, has become farcical.

But by the same token it is indeed a shame that financial issues could detract from the business of designing and making nice motor vehicles

Things weren't looking too rosy 18 months ago with the 2zz coming to the end of the line and no replacement imminent, but plenty still bought RGB's. I'm sure if they can get the V6 Exige and Elise S out of the door they'll sell fine. The biggest screw up in this whole situation is the length of time between the 2zz models ending and the replacements being launched.ryallm wrote:Such a shame that all this is happening on the brink of the launch of what for me is the most exciting Lotus model for 20 odd years: the V6 Exige. If you have signed a new car order form you have effectively entered into a legally binding contract to purchase a car
If you cancel , the dealer may keep the deposit as they are left with a car that was specc'd to your requirements
Not only is the dealer entitled to retain the deposit, he is also entitled to sue you for breach of contract and the balance of the sale value.
A simple phone call to the dealer may get a sympathetic ear as in the instance of the new model, they will not meet the delivery dates as there is no indication that the build is starting any time soon

A verbal agreement/contract is as binding as a written one.boynerT72 wrote:And if they have signed nothing?
