You really think they will drop that far in less than 3 years Don't see it myself but it puts ownership into reach of many more people if they do. I reckon they will bottom out at high 20's then stabalise.
CAP have estimated that the Evora at 3 yrs /36,000 mls old retains 37% of its value ..........Do the Maths

In the interests of balance, I hasten to add that anyone that has recently invested in a Cayman /Cayman S will be similarly "pumped"

OK - how many Evora drivers actually cover that amount of mileage per annum. CAP is a guide but with cars such as these they always assume that they are daily drivers rather than weekend cars (which the majority of them are).

I do not have a CAP book to hand but if you were to apply the under mileage calculation I am sure it would jump up a fair bit.

That will be the same CAP guide that valued my 340r last year at £12,800!

Do not disagree with any of the above, the point I was making is that according to current CAP figures it should be perfectly feasible to attain a three year old Evora with average mileage around the £22k mark

The Evora valuation was lifted from a fleet report which was outlining the predicament many manaufacturers and Contract Hire companies currently face where 2009 valuation of a cars worth after 3 years were now wide of the mark and being reassessed. (Trade in values and balloon payments etc)
Lotus Finance originally stated that the Evora would retain 37% of its list price after 4 yrs /40,000 , this has subsequently been revised to state that it is expected to retain 37% of its list price after 3 years/36,000 miles

Missed this thread when searching and as per this thread http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =2&t=33591

I am considering an evora, after reading through the thread it seams to be that a launch edition or 2009 car might not be the best buy. Initially I was thinking spending about £33k, but with 2011 Evora S coming in under £40k

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3589481.htm

Would this actually cost that much more in a pcp deal and surely would have far better residuals?

Is the evora s a big leap forward in build and performance. I am not by any means ruling out a NA evora as initially really didn't want to be spending more than £35k

I think Evora prices are skewed by Lotus heavily discounting remaining stock of MY'10 and '11 cars prior to the '12 cars coming out. At one point Stratstones had 35 of the things all with big discounts. This has created a feast or famine situation where there were loads of cars competing in the same limited market place and inevitably used price to a heavy drop to compete against the discounted new cars.
Mow, however, there are very few new cars appearing and if you place an order for a new Evora who knows when it will get built. CAP gets it prices by examining market demand and current used prices amongst other things so they would reflect this current trend in any long term projection. As an example of a more stable price have a look at Elise 111r prices in CAP then try and find one for that.

Gooldie, MY10 and MY11 did have a lot of the niggles from the launch spec cars ironed out but worth bearing in mind that if all the recalls have been done on a launch car then there will not be a world of difference between them other than most launch spec cars will either be out of an=or nearing the end of the warranty.
Remember your buying a Lotus and as such we tend to forgive them some things and brand the odd rattle and squeak as a characteristic rather than a fault. Point in case is the whine, for want of a better word, from the transmission. If the fire trap has been removed from the airbox it actually makes it sound worse for some reason but you learn to ignore it, least I have :D. Bear in mind where they sourced the gearbox from !!!.

Love the pistonheads advert, twice it mentions carpet sets :damnfunny , all S's have the sports pack and CR box, that car has premium pack and tech pack so represents a fully loaded car (although doesn't have the 20" diamond cut wheels) but it won't be alone at that price point. One bargaining point is the sag in the dash leather, a lot of Evora's exhibit this "characteristic" where on a hot day the leather loosens and sags, once it cools down again the sagging disappears. Dealers can try to warm the sagging and try to remove it but from what I have heard it is rarely successful and takes quite a bit of time.

Non of the above should dissuade you in any way from buying one, the ride quality and handling alone are enough, never mind the exclusivity and cheap running costs (relatively).
Not going to comment on the price of that car as since buying mine I have stopped watching the Evora market, I do the same with every car I buy until I come to sell it because they always seem to drop the day after I pick mine up  .

I guess it depends whether you buy a car for you to enjoy or whether your just looking after it for the next owner.

There is no difference in build quality between an NA and an S, provided you compare two similar ages cars. The Evora is constantly getting improved, so really the newer the better. Saying that, a lot of updates have been carried out to the older cars, so the differences aren't that huge.

Performance wise, the S is definately quicker.. Is it worth the £5-6k premium? I'm not so sure. I quite like the revvy nature of the NA. I think if I was to buy another Evora id plump for the S, just to help justify the change. If I was going to buy one having not owned one, I think I'd buy an NA, and spend the rest on a few holidays :D

I agree with Justin, the sc changes the character of the car but it\s horses for courses. Drive both and decide for yourself.

Can you fit two two kids in the back of an Evora? I am thinking of selling on my Elise and starting an Evora savings plan for next year.

Depends how tall they are. You should be fine for short journeys.

Mike - any idea when Jim will have an exhaust to sell?
