I am considering an evora, after reading through the thread it seams to be that a launch edition or 2009 car might not be the best buy. Initially I was thinking spending about £33k, but with 2011 Evora S coming in under £40k

I have never really understood what 'vat qualifying' means on a used car :? Anyone care to explain? Why would you advetise a used car at a price which was going to have a heap of tax on top?

You can lose yourself for hours on this one..................

In Summary

Someone buys a car and for whatever (hopefully legitimate) reason ..........they claim the full amount of VAT back.

The car becomes VAT Qualifying

When the term of ownership is finished..............VAT needs to be added at this juncture and is chargeable on its sale

However it could be recoverable by the purchaser if he is a business user/putting it on a lease/exporting the car

Don't get me trying to explain the Margin Scheme for used cars which is far more complicated............................

If you are special needs .............speak to Dom or go on to the HMRC website
