Exhilarate Scotland

Post by GBSGR5 » Sun Jun 03, 2012 7:19 pm

I've just spent the morning on the Exhilarate Scotland supercar run in Dee-side and thought it was definitely worthy of a mention. I drove 5 supercars for about 20 minutes each - 911 Turbo, Nissan GTR, Focus WRC RS Turbo, Audi R8 and Aston Martin DB9, and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. The cars go in convoy with a chaparone in cars 1, 3 and 5 to ensure no-one goes crazy, but other than ensuring you stick to the speed limits in built up areas it was a case of deciding yourself how fast you went. I bought it through Groupon, but the guys said today that if you contact them direct they can do you a cheaper deal as they don't have to pay Groupon any commission. I'd thoroughly recommend it to any-one.

ISTR a thread on PH about the cars - the Focus RS is far from standard I think?

I was on this driving experience today. Overall it was a good day, but was supposed to be a run out Royal Deeside but they took us up Huntly, Dufftown & Keith instead - Twisty roads with not much opportunity to open up the taps.
Website says you get at least 30 mins driving each car but it was more like 15 minutes. Groupon deal was £200. Much better value than the last driving experience I was on at Knockhill. I'd be keen to do it again if it was on better roads.

Groupon price was £200 but the guys said they could probably do it for about £180 direct. Focus was running about 400bhp (stage 3 I think ?). The guys explained that you don't get a time in each car, you get a certain number of miles (about 15 I think) so if you're driving quicker it takes less time. We went the same route as noted above, which was slightly disappointing as I'd been out a few times to get to know the roads from Alford up Donside to the Lecht. Nevertheless, even after driving all the expensive/powerful cars it was a pleasure getting back into the Elise for a fast drive home !

We saw the convoy on the last pistonheads run, the white Focus is very noticeable with big decals along the sides and there was an Evora that day.
They were travelling along A85 from Oban back towards Tyndrum which would be a nice sweeping road to drive those cars on.
