111R rebuild
Re: I'm Baaaack at it again
Seen this the other day, might be of use, although it appears to be the non-chargecooled version:

Alternatively, I know of a US-import group buy on 2GR-FE engines (think it might have ended though)..

That is cheap, 2zz with charger for 2k. Wrong charger mind you for what I'm planning but that should get snapped up.

Re: I'm Baaaack at it again
Looks a fun project.
I'd volunteer to help but, as you know Mike, I'd be hopeless.
I can, however, make it look extremely shiny once it's back together.....

Mair throttle, less brake

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).![]()

Re: 111R rebuild
Leigh,
the ohlins were second hand, although you wouldn't know they were used as there condition is excellent. They cost £650 for the set. I paid £30 cash to get the wishbones bead blasted and then painted them with smoothrite paint. To blast and powder coat a full set of wishbones is about £120 IIRC.
The bushes are easy, especially with the bushing removal tool from eliseparts. But you don't really need it, just makes life a bit easier as I do quite a few of these in a year.

Making great progress
. Is the chassis brace a common upgrade? ...and where are you going to fit that mahoosive intercooler!?

Re: 111R rebuild
Should that have been an Exige rear clam that you bought???Ferg wrote:...and where are you going to fit that mahoosive intercooler!?
Looking forward to further updates

Re: 111R rebuild
The chassis brace kit is standard on some Exige's and all 2-11's. It is the Lotus one and there is not a lot for your money. The intercooler will be sighted in the same place as the 2-11's but may have to sit a bit lower as it's 40mm taller with the extra core. Engine cover is away getting extra cooling slots cut in it and modified to get rid of the louvers in favour of mesh.
Hopefully get the front clam off today and start stripping the front suspension and remove the radiator. Twin oil coolers to be installed in the front also. Not looking forward to running the hoses but will do that once the fuel tank is out.

Re: 111R rebuild
Found a length of lock-wire works well for running the hoses in the sill. Make sure it's doubled up, pulled taught from a tether somewhere and has abour 5-6 twists per inch, just flexible enough.
