Gutted for you Gerrard. Glad you're ok though, that's the main thing.

Cars get fixed (or in my case,the insurance pays out), & life goes on. Just make sure you're back in a Lotus soon, unlike me where I've had to put the cash into the house we're renovating.

Sorry bingoking but i'm afraid it was me. not the sort of spotted I like.

Was on my way to Murray Motors for a service and MOT. if it wasnt for that I wouldnt have went out. Conditions were awful and I hit a river across the road and just aquaplaned into the barrier. feeling bad about the whole thing as I thought I was driving to the conditions but clearly not.
Car looks pretty bad but on reflection it was more of a slide down the barrier rather than impact which is why I think the airbags didnt go off. Expecting to find out tomorrow if its repairable.
I've read plenty about people losing the back end but on this one my front let go in a straight line, probably because its so light.

Nothing hurt with me except pride. Gives me good confidence in the build of these cars. So glad I was on my own and only have myself to blame.

Glad you are ok, heart sinks when I see smashes.

The current Mrs Boag stated that she saw two smashed Loti on her journey to Glasgow.............I guess she saw the blue one as well
She also noted how well the yellow one's tub stood up to the impact.

Mrs B must have a typically feminine sense of direction if she managed to pass the blue one in Dumbarton on her way from Stirling to Glasgow

...unless of course there was a third crashed Lotus

many thanks for all your concerns over this one.
took a bit longer than expected for the insurance company to declare a write off but its what I expected unfortunately. was hoping it wasnt that bad and that I would get it back on the road soon enough and put this episode behind me.

have agreed a fair valuation with the insurance company and am now waiting for the cheque to arrive. have looked around the classifieds at all the usual suspects but I cant see past another Lotus just now. torn between an exige and another elise sc at the moment but not in any rush as im away for the next 4 weeks so will 'try' to be patient and wait for a good one.

I hear that an Elise R or 111R with a retrofit supercharger a la Karen & Derek's former spec or Mrs Shug's spec, is an intelligent way to go too. This might widen the choice of base car / spec for you a bit?

Just off the phone to the insurance company and im told that I still have time to recover the seat harness bar and belts from the car. Trouble is I'm now offshore for the next 4 weeks. A long shot I know but is there anyone local (or who has a similar solar yellow Elise ) available to remove these for me? Payment can be in copious amounts of beer!

Car is now at: Northern salvage auto auctions, station road, addiewell, eh55 8qa.

I am about 20 minutes away as live out in West Lothian but I am a complete numpty when it comes to anything mechanical. If it a simple process to remove them from the car?

If it has already been removed then more than happy to pick them up
