Looks fantastic! Even nose to nose with an Elise, now you gotta admit that's quite something in such esteemed company! ;-)

Me too. In the side profile in the above pic you would have to say the Europa looks better than the Elise. A grower for sure. It will be six years since the S2 Elise was launched quite soon, an I think it it is just starting to look a tad dated, although to my eyes it wears its years much better than the S1.

The S1 is an ageless paper and clay designed classic while the S2 will always look like the autocad replacement / cash-in :D

I actually like it now - can't wait to see one in the flesh, whether it be at MMC (next time I'm in the Capital for sure  ) or Lawrence's (nice colour choice btw 8) )

Was slightly surprised how similar in size it is when next to an S2, I expected it to be bigger for some reason...

The press are being hard on it I reckon because it's not as easy to use every day as a "Boxster or TT" as it seems to be getting compared to

I suspect that'll be the very reason people who buy it, do so  and I can't imagine the majority of Europa owners would be remotely interested in (or for that matter will have test driven) either of the German cars mentioned :D

S1 will always be a true classic....the others won't.
S1 160 and S1 Exige are the best looking.

That's because Lotus have decided to tell everyone that this is a TT rival when, quite clearly, it isn't. Lotus cannot currently hope to compete with the TT and if they really think that this will then they are seriously deluded. The TT is a style over substance car although the new one is meant to be much better to drive. The people that buy it want a car that's quick but it also needs to feel like a normal car to drive, something they don't care where they park it without having to worry returning to find £2k worth of repair from a parking bump.

The Europa, whilst satisfying Lawrence's (and no doubt some other peoples) criteria of being a slightly easier to live with Elise is still very much an enthusiast's car.

IMO, the press are right to compare against the cars they are because that is the intended market. Remember, this car was never intended to be a Lotus and only exists as one because Proton cocked up and decided to try and recover some of the money spent on it.

FWIW, I think side on it looks ok, the front still looks horrible in photos and the rear I don't know what to think. I'd like to see one for real to make my mind up about it.

You'd have to say it looks like Proton were involved in the styling, although i hope it looks better in the flesh.
