mckeann

did they follow you to get the timings, or were they parked at the side of the road, and measured you between two visible points?????
Parked in a wee car park just off the side of the road. Must of timed me between two points. I saw the volvo pull out of the car park in the rear view just as I got to the end of the straight.

Presumably this road is a 60, so 80+ is easily a fair cop. In a 70, 80 might be safe most of the time, but I know Ben Lovejoy was done for 78 on a 70 !?!?

Cheers,

I hope that bazooka wasn't snapping my reg and printing out a ticket to send to the house! :? :(
I am pretty certain that the Bazooka type thingy on the top of the marked Police cars is in fact just a number plate recognition system only, and nothing to do with calculating speeds. The dads of one of the kids in Skye's class works with the traffic department and was speaking to me outside the school about online taxing of vehicles and we got round to talking about number plate recogntion and that's when he told me about the bit on top of some of the traffic cars which I had always thought was a speed camera system.

I assumed it was an 70 fair do's if it was only a 60, 78 in a 70 now that is a joke, I would have contested that one

I hate the way its all going a bit 'cloak and dagger' style now. You can go on for weeks now thinking you've escaped for another day and then the letter drops through your post box!

Yeah, the 'cloak and dagger' style annoys me . . . it's knowing that there are speed cameras or police around that makes people slow down. Although I'm obviously not a fan of speed cameras, if they are going to use them, then they should at least be visible and sign-posted.

Call me naive, but they are supposed to be used to make roads safer and slow drivers down . . . by using covert hidden cameras, it simply turns them into a money maker and has nothing whatsoever to do with road safety. It shouldn't be about catching people, it should be about slowing them down in the first place.

Should be about safety not speed...
All characters appearing in this post are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
Any references to laptimes, speed or driving on the public highway are purely for dramatic effect.

Oh so true...

Dunno who said it, but the best quote I've heard about this is: "You can't measure safety in miles per hour"
