I'll ask my parents how they coped with getting me and my brother in and out of the car when we were kids and there were no kids parking spaces.
Maybe parents these days aren't as well trained as they used to be....................

Or maybe cars are bigger these days and spaces aren't......
Honestly, I'm surprised at the amount of negativity for parent and child spaces, especially on a car enthusiast forum.
If there are no parent and child spaces it'll be your pride and joy that gets dinged when that Zafira with three kids in the back shoe-horns itself in next to your shiny sports car.

I was one of eleven children and the only one to make it to maturity. All of my siblings dissolved in one tragic "couldn't park close enough to the shop to avoid it happening" event after another. Sometimes, before the days of parent and child parking and socially acceptable norm of parking in disabled bays instead, we would have to walk upwards of 50 FEET outside in the drizzle.
I hope you are ashamed of yourself, in order for you to show contrition I have PM'd you contact details so you can make a donation to our support group ("Children who grew up before Parent & Child parking") or CWGUBP&CP.
@CSK_423 I suggest you visit our website www.CWGUBP&CP.com where you can find many true life stories of heart rending human endurance, any of which will no doubt help in your fight against the fascist authorities who are trying to take away your right to park very slightly closer to the door of a shop.

That will have been that acid rain stuff we had in the 80's.

Fake beard and a packet of gravel ...
Anyway, if he had owned a BMW X5 he would have bypassed the disabled parking spot and parked on the double yellow/zigzag/zebra crossing right outside the sliding doors - that's what they do at our local "retail park" anyway
Also taxis seem to think this is their parking place.
Cheers,
Robin

Speaking personally I was quietly pleased when they put double yellows outside my local supermarket. I got to have self righteous rage at the sheer inconsiderate, selfish nature of some motorists and their utter laziness as they almost cause an obstruction just top save them walking a couple of yards.
It also discouraged most other motorists from parking there so I can usually park nice and close to the door when I'm in the car.

I avoid that by parking in the parent and child spaces - they're better equiped to handle my shiny wide-arsed sports carStevoraith wrote:If there are no parent and child spaces it'll be your pride and joy that gets dinged when that Zafira with three kids in the back shoe-horns itself in next to your shiny sports car.
That's not actually true, I park as far away as possible from other cars but when it's really busy I'll use the P&C spaces if the rest of the car park is full.
