As per a few pages back...Is anyone going to 'getpebble'?

http://getpebble.com/

Or are you going to wait for Apple's smart watch, which is replacing the Shuffle? :)

If I was driving the 340 more it would be a good iPhone addition.

At Zurich airport and notice the Tag Heur formula 1 Gulf (with rubber strap) on for 1100Chf and quite like it, wondering if that's a good price as I can't find the UK retail price.

It's about the usual retail price. I think the non-gulf ones got for £700-750. They're popular, but to me it's a lot of money to spend on a quartz.

Decided to go for the watch as I quite liked the Gulf strip. With the exchange rate and the tax free at the airport if cost £735.

Admit a lot of money for a quartz but a lot cheaper than the Gulf Monaco at 12,0000 CHF (yes I know they are miles apart in exclusivity and movement) :D

Also Watches of Switzerland have the stainless steel strap at £975 but think the effect of the rubber tyre mimicing the period tyres looks better.

Contemplating a service soon for my late 60's Heuer:

Nothing fancy about the movement - Common or garden Valjoux 92 inside.

Can anyone recommend anywhere in Scotland?

I used Watches of Switzerland on Princes St, Edin, but there is a TAG watch dealer in Perth who can probably arrange a service.

Martins of Glasgow seem to come up whenever this question is asked. Havn't used them myself yet so can't comment on quality of service or price but other recommendations seem to rate them highly on both.

Martins or glasgow is a proper old school watch guy who I'd highly recommend. He can be a grumpy barsteward and may not always be the fastest but he's a craftsman who won't rip you off and will look for every way to save you a penny or two.

Changing a battery in my 90s seamaster was going to be £70 in wos or it was £25 and a natter with Martin. He valued my collection last year too.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?
