Calliper painting businesses
I know DIY has been discussed here, but anyone had calipers tidied up and painted commercially?
I have a couple of pairs that could use this surly soon...

Thanks, Mike.
How long lasting do you think Hammerite will be?
Do they do it in red?

Hammerite smooth is much cheaper, does the job perfectly and is available in loads of colours.
I've even got some 'smooth green' which is a perfect match for Skoda caliper green Campbell
Not sure if yours has the green or red calipers but if you wanted the green you could have it- they don't make it any more and I've got no use for it (our Octy has the red calipers).
Here's a guide I did on detailing world when I painted my BMW calipers with Hammerite smooth a few years back;

You could do the above or give Tom @ Protek a shout, he was going to do mine orange on the Europa but I just never got around to giving the car to him, and well of course it's sold now.flyingscot68 wrote:I had mine done by MMC

Tom Pollock perchance?
Steve - good sleuthing but no, won't be needing Skoda Green on this occasion ... Different marque altogether involved
. Ta for the guide tho...considering DIYing it now.

I DIY'd mine (in silver with black lettering). Looked good. Happy to lend a hand if you go down that route.campbell wrote:Tom Pollock perchance?

Re: Calliper painting businesses
I did not paint up the S1 callipers when I refurbed the fronts. Good wire brush attachment and they were good as new. Callipers were so small no point attracting attention to them.
Now I think it was 2002 when I asked the question but I cannot remember the answer. Why are callipers on some cars at a different position than on others ? e.g. A Conti has huuuge callipers, why would then not be centred at the 6 o'clock position to lower the centre of gravity? I understand standing water etc could be a factor but that could be sorted other ways surely ?

I used http://www.biggred.co.uk/ to get a set of Cortina calipers reconditioned for the Locost including getting them polymer coated, they turned out lovely:

Hammerite smooth red is what was used on my old liz, Every bit as as good as the £35 brake caliper paint kits and a 5th of the cost, I have used both in the past, both red
