Owned since July 2009 and has completed 17000 miles in 4 years of ownership. In that time the car has been maintained to a very high standard.
Used as a daily driver all year around and as a weekend fun car.
The car comes with an extensive documented history with invoices right from the first service. Option code sticker still visible under bonnet
Under my ownership servicing has been carried by me. All receipts for spares and consumables in file. MOT carried out by local garage since ownership without any advisories.
The car drives well with tight handling thanks to new suspension control arms and bushes and new springs and shock absorbers.
All common mechanical problems have been rectified either under warranty or during my ownership carried out by myself. Engine uses no oil.
The exterior benefits from a tidy up by Porsche Reading’s in house body shop. The front bonnet, bumper (PU), wings, rear bumper and nearside rear quarter benefit from a re-spray in May 2009. As a result the body work is in stunning condition.
The car has recently been fully detailed and machine polished. The paintwork has been maintained with a combination of Zymol and Zaino premium treatments.
The interior is in very good condition with a few minor marks and scuffs to the seat backs and door cards. All leather regularly fed and plastics treated with UV blocking dressings.
Great car presented for sale in exceptional overall conditions. Owned and cherished by an enthusiast.

Apart from the usual dreaded IMS, I think than an inspection would certainly not go amiss. I have used Peter Morgan before and happy to send you our report to see what you get (just send me a pm).

However I think that if you accept that a 996 of this mileage will always be difficult to sell (even if its in fantastic condition) then I would put in a very cheeky offer on the price subject to an inspection.

I can't see many people biting off his hands for a 911 even at £10k.

1. This issue has effected an extremely small number of cars. Just over 1000 worldwide
2. This problem is almost Non-existent in cars that have gone past 30.000 miles.
3. Porsche has stood behind the extremely small number of engines effected within warrantee and they've replaced many that were slight over the warrantee miles.
4. In many cases cars were not cared for properly during break-in and in first 1,000 miles when this problem occurred later within 30,000 miles.
5. Cars stored without driving for 4-6 months at a time over multiple years, oil not changed per Porsche recommendations, track use, over-revving missed shifts, and popping clutch too frequently, and use of wrong oil, have been found to have been done in 75% of problem cases.
6. The Guardian product is not very useful and does not provide engine rebuild protection. By the time the volume of metal filings are high enough to signal a problem, the engine must be completely rebuilt anyway. In some cases, it could keep your engine rebuild cost down from $20,000 to $17,000, but it definitely does not keep you from needing to have it rebuilt or replaced. In some cases the Guardian provides false warnings because normal small amounts of metal filings can be found in the engine.
7. An ISB should never be changed without pulling the engine down out of the car. If it was, the job was not done correctly.
8. It has been found that non-dealer installation of Guardian devices have caused many other problems to the intermediate shaft and/or other things during installation.

From what I have read in the forums/magazines I do not think that it's mileage related. However I am sure that Hartech did some investigations into this and may have some information on their website:http://www.hartech.org

Like everything there is a lot of chat but like everything some people think they know what they are talking about. I would be inclined to believe what Hartech say as they have a very good reputation in Porsche circles.
