That's the first tank of fuel gone then

Post by tonyg » Fri Apr 26, 2013 6:16 pm

Picked up the my Elise (Daves SC) from Murray's today.

Drove the se7en down in mixed weather and arrived at Murrays. Two minutes later - huge hail shower (had just enough time to put the tonneau on).

Did the paperwork, paid for the car and headed for home. Stopped in traffic jam half a mile up the road - clouds of steam from front of car, after a moments panic i realised that it was hail evaporating from the radiator.

Motorway up to Perth, turned off and headed for Coupar Angus - enjoyed the road and was mostly on autopilot until i decided to go home via Braemar.
Stopped just through Blairgowrie and took the roof off - was a bit fresh but hey I'm a hard se7ener, i can do this.
Top of the Lecht and heading down and it's bloody freezing. Find a place to stop and put the hood back on, by the time i've found one the snow is horizontal.
Got the hood fitted (eventually), drove off and heard a thump - yes, I hadn't closed the boot

First impressions

Yep they're as good as everyone says.
Damn it whines at high revs.
No they're not perfect (I can see the logos on the speakers reflecting on the windscreen - but I'll get used to that).

Time to change the avatar !

Congratulations on your new car Tony :thumbsup

Is this your first Lotus?

Ps. A full tank of fuel from Edinburgh to Aberdeen, you must have had your foot down the whole way

Ps. Hope you have a good night having a few drams with the boys tomorrow, and remember to keep your keys securely in your pocket because Dave might try and take them back. :D

This is going to be a very hard weekend for me..... I farkin love that car, wishing it was winter and i wouldn't be able to see it when we arrive!

Craig called me this afternoon, told me he was off to dry out your Cateringvan and that you seemed like a happy man upon collection and departure! The roof by the way is a pain at time, but there is a knack and i am sure if i had been arsed, some WD40 will cure the sticky lever.

Look forward to your thoughts tomorrow!

Dave

Nice one tony, will be good to see it buzzing about Aberdeen,

You must have grown attached to the seven though, what was that, 7 years plus?

Dave at least you know the car will get used properly!

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
