UJI - my trusty 14 yr old 100k mile S1 for anyone that doesn't know - has been back on "the regime" with Murray for a couple of years now.

Just collected today after annual service.

Usual warm welcome from the double act that is Moncrieff and Ware (Morecambe and Wise anyone?!), and free reign to drool over the new hardware kicking around in the showroom whilst Craig was comforting another valued customer. Volvo's included (eek!).

Anyway, the bill was only marginally above the standard service rate, despite a number of small but tangible jobs being carried out in addition.

What I am liking more and more is the pre-MOT assessment we have been doing each year now, given UJI's age. During the annual service, Craig's team take the time to point out things that might, could or almost certainly would cause an MOT fail come July, and I then have adequate time to work out how to fund, source, and address the things that will matter, during the intervening couple of months.

This makes a very big difference between the car sitting "off the road" in the garage while I tackle the unexpected, versus having it fully on the road for maximum enjoyment throughout the summer months. Where it matters most, of course.

So thanks again fellas. The drive home was a treat, as usual. Oh and sorry for Eilidh saying "Daddy when we get the car home will we wash it?" - please don't tell the valet boys

Me "Craig keep the car as long as you want. No hurry. No plans."
Craig "OK, what do you want us to do to it."
Me " Errm. Do you have one of those forklifts that farmers use? 'Cos if you do could you use that and pick it up and shake it - then nail back on anything that falls off?"
Craig "You know we don't use nails don't you?"
Me "OK then screws."
Craig "Or forklifts."
Me "OK but you know what I mean?"
Craig "No problem."

Me "You know how yesterday I said there was no hurry. Can I have it back tomorrow at 1500 so I can do a track day?"
Craig "No problem"

Me "Do you mind if I change my wheels in the car park.. And leave my old Citroen here for an undetermined amount of time?"
Craig "YES! We'll change your wheels. Of course you can leave your car here."

Me " Hi Craig, sorry for turning up unannounced but can I leave my car here."
Craig " No problem. Have you knocked anymore bits off?"
Me "No but I think we should avoid washing it. Some of the gaffer tape is loose. And ignore that there's no number plate. And there's this funny noise..."
Craig " No problem."

Excellent service. Craig make us all feel welcome, he replies to emails with detailed breakdowns of costs and cheerfully understand that I am running the shed on a budget, tolerating my stupid questions with a cheerful smile and bending over backwards to help out.

Had the pleasure of meeting Brandon today for the first time today, whilst I was in getting a little excited by something in the showroom  Very polite and non-pushy - my preferred style of salesmanship :thumbsup

Sorry I couldn't spend longer there and would have loved to have taken you up on the offer of a test drive but I genuinely did have to collect my wife from the airport :thumbsup

Just wanted to say a massive thanks to Craig and the team.

My car has had a thorough once over and a C service and he has confirmed its not a complete shed! - so relieved!!

MMC really have upped their game and you would be mad to take your pride and joy anywhere else! (- IMHO)

cheers Ed 8) :thumbsup

I once again had great service from Craig and the rest of the team at Murrays.

I had the car in for a new radiator and an MOT (which it failed :(). It was re-tested and passed as well as having some new front discs and pads fitted which without Craigs advice and patience would have been a pita. He (as always) went above and beyond to help me out and keep costs down.

It's sadly to far to go for little niggles now that I'm down in Newcastle but for any big jobs or services I will always take the car to Murrays.

Great service as always :thumbsup

My brother also travelled up from the Newcastle area to get his Elise serviced yesterday, he commented on the great service and acceptable cost, plus the welcome addition of a new TRD airbox at a great price.

He also went home with a head full of tempting figures to swap to an Elise S, jury is still out on that decision..........

Once again brilliant service from Craig and the team on the annual service. Lots of little jobs taken care of and the standard of cleaning and valeting is out of this world. Many thanks.

Have to add that I was also talking to Brandon and had a test drive of the Elise S demonstrator. As above the figures are tempting but........... I don't know whether I should save up a few more pennies, sell the RS Cosworth as well and go for an Exige S. Ah..........

I again have just had great service from Craig and the rest of the team at Murrays. Last year it was a "C" service which uncovered worn pads and a blowing exhaust downpipe which I was able to organise with Craig, ordering Pagid RS42s from Elise Parts while on holiday in France :D Although the total cost was entirely reasonable, it would be fair to say I was hoping (more than a little bit) that he wouldn't uncover anything too expensive this year.

Anyway this year it was just an "A" service and an MOT which it only failed due to worn rear tyres. I have T1Rs and the ones on the front still have quite a bit of life in them and Craig was happy to let me source a pair of rear T1Rs from the internet and have them delivered and the car re-tested.

As noted by others above, Craig always goes way above and beyond what you expect to help make maintaining a Lotus as hassle free as possible and keep costs down. When busy at work it is great to be able to use email to discuss and confirm work to be done and the costs involved.

If you haven't tried using Murrays for your Lotus I would thoroughly recommend you give them a try :thumbsup

Further to my post back in May, I recently collected our S1 from Murray after what could have been a scary MOT.

More Moncrieff Magic has been worked, and the bill began with a 3 and not a 7 (the latter was my realistic expectation based on extent of work estimated).

I have watched the sleight of hand and I still cannot work out how he does it.

There was some juggling to do related to backorder parts, but as ever we played a team effort and made it work.

And after collection, when rattly brake pads and a long(ish) brake pedal were flagged up by the missus (well she noticed the pads, was actually oblivious to the braking effort), all was seen to in double quick time this week, without quibble. Ensures we are good to go for Campaganza 2 this weekend :-)

Kind thanks from Team Ford.
