Thanks for all your suggestions guys.
Happy ending. Found my spare key and effortlessly opened boot lit with that.
However original key not in boot, so must be somewhere about the house. Needle in haystack job, but at least I'm motoring again.

Are you sure the "spare" is not the original key?
