Absolutely, could not watch F1, but this made up for it.

Would have liked to have seen it got to 4 or 5, but Andy was just too good on the day. Djokovic never gave up but he just did not have a reply.

SUPERB STUFF !!! one hell of an effort from the lad.

Starting filming everyone in my house watching it on the TV for posterity from the first Championship point thinking it would be a quick 30 sec vid ..... 10 mins later and a lot of ooo's and ahh's it was finished Fantastic match.

I particularly enjoyed watching Cameroon and Big Eck sweltering away in their suits - Though Cameroon did take his jacket off before the third set! He won't be invited back in a hurry. Mr Salmon won't be happy at being sat the row behind Cameroon. I cannot wait for the scrabble to adopt Sir Andy as a political mascot in the independence game.

I actually think he won because he realized it didn't matter ... but I am pleased he did - from my layman's perspective he played an awesome game. I particularly liked the moment near the end where Novak hit a killer more-or-less drop shot to the left side line from mid court and Sir Andy had to run across the whole width of the court to scoop it up. Surely that shot should have been a winner. But Sir Andy made it across the court and hit it from off court into the left corner behind Novak. The shot was great, and there was probably a degree of luck in making it, but the thing that showed he would now win was Novak's double take - at that point you knew that psychologically it was all over.

Now all we need is England to win the world cup and all the tedious sporting ghosts will have been put to bed (and so they'll stop talking about them all the time!).

What a moment for Murray! Just delighted for him, and hopefully the press will calm down at Wimbledon now the inevitable Q "when will you win it ?" no longer needs answered.

A stunning moment, and SO pleased he held it together in that last game. I could barely watch!

He might not be overly personable on TV, but not everyone is, and at least he doesnt pretend to be something he's not.

You are indeed correct, and bloody good on him! Personality or not, he did bloody well yesterday and to donate £1.6million to charity, plus the money he got from winning Queens in June (£80k or thereabouts) he deserves a lot of respect for that.

Awesome match and performance from Murray, I was on the edge of my seat.

Re his personality, not everyone can be great at interviews, I'd be even worse. If you saw his doubles game at Queens with Henman and against Lendl he was having a great time. Just a normal bloke it seems.

What would you have him do, turn American and end every sentence with an upward inflection?

It really was a phenomenal result. I don't think anybody would have given him a hope of winning in straight sets, something that doesn't really seemed to have been mentioned much. Perhaps because it was such a long match for a 3 setter. He worked unbelievably hard though. There were so many shots he shouldn't really have got to but his pace across the court was exceptional - especially for a Scotsman in that heat.

From some of the coverage I've seen recently, he seems like a genuinely nice guy who was trying to win it as much for his home town and the rest of the country as he was for himself. He's said himself that nothing else will top this, so how does he keep himself motivated to go on?

I'm a bit more pro-Scottish than British but I thought Alex Salmond looked like his idea of crashing the party backfired. This big, wide hand clapping with the cheesy grin and then taking out the Saltire at the end just looked totally false.
