Going to be busy and probably difficult to get around, but it has its upsides. I am clearing out having rented my house to a couple of the players + their families so its paying for a nice family holiday in Italy and making a dent in in the mortgage too. :D :thumbsup

I know someone who is renting out their home in North Berwick for the open at the grand sum of £10k. Scarcely believable.

Muirfield is a mile up the road from us and I think it's great to have a world sporting event on our doorstep every 10 yrs or so. Cool to have watched the course and surroundings evolve with grandstands, tented village, signs, etc :)

A few days of possible traffic inconvenience and many around here start moaning and grumping. The roads have been resurfaced. The verges haven't been properly cut like this for years. Lots of money coming into many businesses in the county. All good. ...and only being able to get down the lane to our homes if you have a Police/Council pass works for me!

Just wish we had a mansion on Gullane Hill to take a fat £30+k cheque for renting out  :D

Yep, don't think the Open makes it north of Carnoustie these days.

The SE Donday contingent should be well placed next time round though!

Well this week I have Rory, Tiger, Poulter, Darren Clarke and Sergio for neighbours and saw Graeme Mcdowell this morning!

Not sure who else is here!

Certainly makes things a bit more interesting - although havent been given any VIP passes by my new temporary neighbours yet!

Because you should be providing some to your own key clients, young man ;-)

Enjoy the atmosphere!

Does anyone know what, if any, travel restrictions are in place between North Berwick and Dirleton? We've got a caravan at Tantallon and 3 of us are heading over for the Sunday, hoping to get a lift to Dirleton and walking from there.

Cheers

HI Ali

Not 100% sure - we have passes, but they dont invoke the major road restrictions until Thursday. Drem road is shut, not sure what is happening to the East though.

At some point you'll need the correct parking pass to get past Dirleton but not sure exactly where that comes in. You might not get past North Berwick though - there are shuttles operating so worth looking at that.

Cheers Andy
North Berwick tourist info seemed to be of the knowledge that there were no specific shuttle buses running as far east as nb. Had heard of the drem buses though I think they're in conjunction with the trains which don't head west from nb till almost midday on a Sunday.
Hope the disruption isn't too much for you!!

So far its been a bit of a laugh, although Tiger hosted an event here today. That was pretty mad! Models, helicopters etc.

Still nice being in amongst it all and able to hide when required.
