What sporty convertable to buy?
Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
Vote for a Boxster here too. Also on strength of how long Comrade Boag has withstood his.
Keep the S1 and just mildly update the SAAB, Stew.

Said boxster is looking very shiny too. I am still thinking of getting one for Katie's next significant birthday ... but that would mean reducing the fleet elsewhere and so far we've been unable to part with any of them!

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
Its the longest I have ever held onto a car................
Plenty Quick
Reliable
I have covered 50k miles in mine without issue
Once a year service
Practical - Two boots means inordinate luggage carrying capacity for a two seater
Luxury - Bose/Climate/Leather/Electric Roof
Mines had an appetite for tyres initially (front) due to safe Factory "understeer" Geometry settings.............now toed in.
Very controllable on/near/past the limit..............You can make it dance with a bit of practice
You will never tire of the flat six "chainsaw" yowl after 4000 rpm
Make me an offer and I might sell...................if only to upgrade to a newer one

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
I think we may have one some day. Albeit there's a long list of others to plough through first!

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
I would have bought Mr Boags car a couple of months ago if it wasn't for trying to get cheap insurance that included Lindsay.
She hits a big birthday (no not 18
) in a few months and will be back on the hunt for one once/if she has tired of the Elise.
cheers

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
I would have bought Iain's also, but could not justify it with having the Motability car, and with both of us retired, it is rare that we have to go out in Winter in the worst of the weather where it would have been at its best.

Still got the hanker for an old 911 then? Think ours is going up for sale soon also, the 964 not the Spyder.ChrisG wrote:i could be persuaded to sell my Boxster Spyder if thats of any interest. 60 Reg, 5900 miles, manual with all the right spec, Porsche warranty to November 2015.

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
I looked at a Boxter today, and liked it.This was my first drive of a Boxter, and did not really know what to expect. I thought it would be a bit quicker of the mark, than the Elise ???

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
Ach, a week earlier and you could have had mine. It was mint condition having been bought from Porsche and hardly used.
I didn't find it slower off the mark although in theory think it was 0.4 of a second slower to 60mph than my 111s. I did find acceleration effortless so may be it felt slower but a glance at the speedo might have shown you faster than you thought. Unlike the Elise, with the 3.2 engine it was noticeable how it just kept on pulling at higher speeds.

It was a Boxter S 3.2. However it was a older model, and it was just to give me a bit of a taster.Andy G wrote:It's heavier remember and also it is bigger so masks the speed way better. Which model did you drive?

Came across a Jag XK R tonight on the way home.
Looks great, sounds great and boy can it shift.

Robbie These were the first Boxters I looked at, and walked away. Next time look at them up close. Yes Christine would the SL500, but that car was cost a fortune to run.
