What sporty convertable to buy?
Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
I didn't look that close Stew, but they did have some interesting cars. What about an exige?

Great idea Robbie. Your 240 cup, in exchange for. Saab 93 Convertible, S1 Elise, and I will chuck in Rory's old Ford KA.Robbie wrote:I didn't look that close Stew, but they did have some interesting cars. What about an exige?

Thanks for the very kind offer Stew, but have to decline it as I am not worthy to drive Rory's KA

We had the 987 S and it was a great car. For Daily use stunning, see Mr Boags comments, and so well put together. If you can stretch to the 3.4S even better. Just a great place to be.haggis catcher wrote:It was a Boxter S 3.2. However it was a older model, and it was just to give me a bit of a taster.Andy G wrote:It's heavier remember and also it is bigger so masks the speed way better. Which model did you drive?
One of the boys took one on Frolic a few years ago, when it was MEGA hot - guess where we hung out at lunch as the temp hit 40C - in the Boxster top up, AC on!
Used to reckon it was about 90% of the GT3 on the road, despite being a fraction of the price and having the benefit of soft top - and sod the people who reckon its a poor relation - they havent owned one

Suspension wasnt as ball breaking as the GT3 either

If you want one even closer to the GT3 then there is always RUFAndy G wrote:Used to reckon it was about 90% of the GT3 on the road, despite being a fraction of the price and having the benefit of soft top - and sod the people who reckon its a poor relation - they havent owned one![]()

Must admit that if I had the money I would quite fancy buying another Spyder and getting RUF to perform a conversion on that. With the lighter weight it would be even more epic !!

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
I got a bit of a shock with the money i have been offered for the SAAB, in part exchange
Its a 2001 9-3 Convertable, with full SAAB service history. Only 44000 miles, and is mint. £1000 !!!!!!!!! Er i dont think so ??? On the other side of the coin I have had a very possitive money offered for my S1
However im thinking to myself is it worth the bother of selling them both, just to change into one car ?

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
Saabs have taken a massive hit. At the start of the year, I picked up a 3yr old 93 Convertible in great condition with 39k on the clock for £8k... And that was from a dealers forecourt so I hate to think what the previous owner got for the trade in.
I have no signature.

It's a twelve year old car, a grand is not a bad offer I reckon.haggis catcher wrote:I got a bit of a shock with the money i have been offered for the SAAB, in part exchangeIts a 2001 9-3 Convertable, with full SAAB service history. Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
Have to say I don't disagree with flyingscot - it's an old car, not regarded as one of their best, with very shaky parts backup. You'd have to find a very special buyer to want to spend much more than that on it...

Re: What sporty convertable to buy?
Best bet would be to punt the Saab on Pistonheads, Ebay or Classic Car site as a private sale. As Shug mentioned: try some Saab forums in case there are people who appreciate the manufacturer and condition your vehicle is in.
Looking around at prices I see that they have taken a big nose dive due to the reasons mentioned above
There is also the fact that a dealer may not want to take in a convertible at this time in year (risk of it sitting on the forecourt till Spring) which may reflect a pax lower price.
