Re: Watch lovers?
A few years ago I posted on here that I fancied a particular watch. Not many were a fan of it but I still liked it. I already have a lovely gold and diamond watch that Alan bought me for my 21st, but I only really wear it when going out and I wanted a good everyday watch.
So, with my 30th looming, Alan decided to buy me another watch. I tried on a few different types, an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, a Cartier Tank (can't get the Roadster new anymore) a Tag Heuer Carrera and a few different sizes and models of the Tag Formula 1 (the one I have liked for years). I ended up getting this one (excuse the iPhone quality of pics-had also had a few glasses of wine by this point too!):

The others were really lovely, and if I were looking for a classic, dress watch I probably would have went for any of them but this time around I wanted something chunkier, but still classy to wear out to dinner or on stage while performing. I LOVE it! My birthday isn't for a few weeks though so it's packed away in its box for now.
actually looking forward to turning 30 now!

Looking at ordering a watch for my mum's birthday next week - Think I've narrowed it down to two, but would appreciate any thoughts / input from the SE horologists...

Cheers Mister B - Alas, her eyesight isn't the best without glasses, and I reckon she'd find the skeleton style a tad difficult to read.
Women's watches are a bit of a 'mare - Far less choice than what's available to us blokes, especially given the requirement for a leather strap rather than a metal bracelet.

007 is a cracking everyday watch. Highly recommended.
I'd suggest buying from Yorkshire watches over creation though...

At least you know they are already in the UK and a duties are paid.
Any watch with a j means it was built in Japan which means it's more expensive and more coveted than the K alternatives. My two seikos are a k's as I'm a pikey. I've noticed no downsides.

Another
for Yorkshire Watches. I've used them and you have the piece of mind that there's someone on the end of the phone if you have any issues with your purchase.
As already said that's a cracking everyday watch you're looking at however some info on the movement which may or may not be important to you.
The watch you are looking at has a 7S26 movement which is non hacking and non winding. This means if you take the watch off for a day or so and it stops you cannot wind it at the crown. Movement of the watch is the only way to wind it up. Non hacking means the second hand does not stop when you pull out the crown to set the time. If these aspects of the movement are important to you then you will need to be a bit flexible with your budget. My Seiko Monster for example has a 4R36 movement wich is hacking and winding but will set you back a bit more than the 007.

Experience is something you get, just after you need it!!
