Alcohol free beer
Re: Alcohol free beer
Would agree Becks blue isn't good but then neither is normal Becks!
Don't work for sainsburys but their Czech 0.5% stuff is pretty palatable. Brewed by staropramen (?) apparently

Re: Alcohol free beer
Good on you. I have stopped over a week and almost feel like I'm changing my life. Haven't yet decided if I am going to stop or going very minimal I.e at dinners etc.hendeg wrote:Mostly because I was becoming an arse when I was drunk. It was like I was someone else and I didn't like it. The decision to give up coincided with a major operation so it was pretty easy for me to do it. There have been quite a few times where I've fancied having a drink and I've decided not to, which does make me feel like I'm a recovering alcoholic sometimes.scottishselise wrote:Mind if I ask why? Health reasons/hangovers (lack of) or something else? I am thinking of trying it for a while see how I feel. Sick of hangovers. Also it is rather expensive...hendeg wrote:I've been alcohol-free for 4 years now. One of my first non-alcohol beers was unbelievably an Amstel in Amsterdam during French Frolic! I think they'd put something else in it though. I also quite like a Cobra Zero.
.
I don't feel like I'm missing out - I can still go out and have a laugh. I just have to drive through Aberdeen in the small hours to remind myself why I don't drink any more.
Aberdeen or any city at weekend is a start reminder

Predictable, maybe, but we're on a "dry January" here, kick starting Lisa's new health programme. I'm providing moral support. Sainsbury's Czech or Cobra Zero both sound interesting.
Like Robin, I enjoy a beer with some meals, but don't particularly crave the alc hit. Like others, my recovery times have been legendary but I still never seem to learn on Night 1 of most Campaganzas!
Having young kids had a fabulously positive impact on reducing my alcohol intake and I was just a couple of units over the max male intake when I went through a BUPA health check end of '12.
Just need to hit my weight target now, and I'll be allowed to go on Lisa's 40th birthday hol with her this summer, lol.
Oh and Clausthaler was a great low alc beer when I was a student. Relief on my car a lot. Think it's long gone now, though.

Even took the kids a wee drive along Perth Rd in Dundee on the way home around 3am on New Year's Day for the entertainment

I've decided to go minimal now. If there is no nice craft beers or good whisky then I don't drink, and even then i won't drink that much.scottishselise wrote:. Haven't yet decided if I am going to stop or going very minimal I.e at dinners etc.
What's the point in feeling pish for 2 days after drinking average beer?

Alcohol free beer
Tonight's tipple

Rather nice, does actually taste like a Wheat Beer, tangy and quite fizzy.
Strangely though it says it's an isotonic drink on the label. 0.5% alcohol, well worth a try if you're looking for an alternative to soft drinks.
I tried the Cobra zero earlier, it was OK but wasn't chilled properly so I'll not comment on it until I try it chilled. Also got a bottle of the Sainsburys Czech low alcohol chilling to try at some point later.

And it's isotonic apparently. Not sure the best tipple for down the gym tho? Gets a bit sweet after a couple.
Enjoyed two Sainsbury's Czechs tonight. Beer was OK too
4 pack of Cobra Zero in to chill for next sampling.

Sick of hangovers. Without drink I am thinking clearer, more positive outlook and less stressed. Also will save a chunk in the process.

Another one hear on a cut down , hangovers lasting two days just feel like a waste of time also don't go well with a hyperactive toddler. Have started a two maybe three pint rule on nights out and seems to work. Can still sink a fair bit of rum mind you and not be up nor down, its a work in progress ,god im getting old.

Yup, cutting down here too. Bottle of Chilean Cabarnet, four tins and about to hammer in to the port and whisky.
