Favourite Top Gear Episode ...... Ever!
OK, I think everybody universally accepts that they have some right howlers on an all too regular basis. However, every now and then they do produce some absolute cracking programs.
With that in mind what was your favourite episode and why?
For me it's a tie between series 7 episode 5 with the Veron race across Europe and series 21 episode 3 with the McLaren, Ferrari and Audi in Spain.

No idea what series or episode number but it's the one with the 997 GT3 RS, Aston N24 and Gallardo Superleggera.

The episode that I found the funniest ever though was the one in America where they painted slogans on each others cars and got chased out of the garage. Hilarious.

Christmas dvd from a few years ago containing the Zonda R was good too.

Re: Favourite Top Gear Episode ...... Ever!
I was a bit disappointed with the hot hatch last night, as i thought they would have bought good examples and given the newer cars a run for their money , however soon as the first car turned up, i thought, here we go, another keystones cops top gear episode. I was right, however it was head and shoulders above last series,
The cupra R only just beat the golf and the nova and both of them had knackered suspension and engines and clutches etc. It would have been interesting to see a good version try it.
One of my favourite episodes was where they got their mums to test drive the oldie mobiles. I thought the chemistry between them all was fantastic (james mays. Mum was the fastest)
I also like the majority of the specials (except last season hire car embarasment)
Is it folklore, or is there an episode where the drove a lotus around the track, and lotus weren't happy about the time and sent one of their own drivers to do it quicker (sideways) ?

Steve.
I remember watching it too as it was the only car show on TV at the time (I think)
I bumped into one of the presenters in a car park in Oxford, he was pretty dull in the flesh too. Can't remember his name, beardy one.
Re: Favourite Top Gear Episode ...... Ever!
Yeah Kenny, thought the same myself.
Only skimmed through because it looked crap.
The start brought back memories and I posted the old episode to show how much it's changed over the many years.
I much prefer watching Chris Harris videos now.
He is more petrolhead while the TG boys act like a bunch of d***kheads.

I saw the title of the thread and thought, "woo, new series kicks off well, then!". Er, perhaps not, then? Anyway I did laugh lots at Sunday's, especially since I had an identical (but pristine) Nova (and predecessor), also a predecessor to the XR2i (original mk1), and successor to the Golf (our much loved Mk4 oil burner!). Cannot remember all the series well enough to pick a fave episode but I do agree with most of the above analysis

The beardy guy was Chris Goffey.
The list of early presenters is interesting, it includes Angela Rippon and Noel Edmonds.
