At the press conference this morning they dismissed both the engine data and the supposed debris that had been spotted by satellite.

This then took them to a deserted desert island where their colleagues had laid a temporary runway, and they are now laying low for a few days before they make contact with a massive ransom demand.

Well it is as good an explanation as anything else that has come out so far.

I am getting increasingly pissed off with them rolling out so called experts to explain what might have happened. Just had one in the Simulator showing that if there had been a sudden decompression the aircraft could have carried on flying for four hours on its pre-programmed route.

Of course it could have done, BUT IT WOULD HAVE SHOWN UP ON RADAR. Their audience including the relatives, take this in because it is being spouted by the experts. It disappeared from ATC screens at 0107, so for fcuks sake accept that and look for an explanation as to why.

I can only come up with one, but then I am not an expert. Even mine falls over because of the lack of wreckage that would have fallen in a relatively small area compared to that which they are covering now.

This missing plane..

Malaysian Govt fessing up some info this morning. Transponders and systems wilfully disabled before course change, which has been picked up by Miltary radar. Last known heading, India, with range available...

My money's on some extremist faction pinching it to gain publicity.

My desert island theory is looking plausible. :D

Pete, am I missing something? The transponder can be turned off but the aircraft's radar return would have been showing up at ATC Centres across several countries if it carried on flying for several hours, however once again this is being ignored.

Tut, it looks like we were right. Desert Island/aircraft carrier.

You're right about the primary, I'm guessing (purely speculating here) that it took a long time to get different countries to give up their radar recordings or the radar coverage where it flew simply wasn't that great...

There's no aircraft carrier in the world near big enough to take something that size. As for an airfield, what are the requirements for a plane of this size? Not just a strip of grass somewhere I imagine.. And could it have landed in such a place if it was dark for instance..
