Guys,
I've raised the issues with the poor driving standards in that video with Knockhill, and also with CCI. I've not received a response yet from CCI, but explained how our days are run to very strict guidelines etc. I ahve also invited them along to watch/participate in one of our events so they can see how things operate.
This was Ian Forrest's reply to me:
"As you are aware we have an edited video compilation doing the rounds of someone driving out of control, and with the editing it gives the incorrect impression that we condone that type of driving. It does not show the incidents being radioed in drivers being black flagged ,spoken to and sent home . This is a driver or drivers setting out to create in there mind a sensational video with selected clips from there track days . We operate more than 150 track events a year with a safety record to match any .
From 2007 we will no longer operate the hot hatch type of event ."
What this means, is that this year is the last that the Hot Hatch events will be run
I have also given Ian the contact details for CCI, so he can progress things formally.
Regarding the tyres, I've got this reply from Ian Forrest at Knockhill - it's not a case of preserving the corners - it's now part of their MSA licence requirements - so they are not negotiable I'm afraid
"These tyre bundles are now part of our MSA licence requirements and we run our track days to the circuits code of practice which requires the circuit to operate as licensed by the MSA.Our insurance also requires events to be run to the MSA requirements. We have found these to be of great benefit and have helped improve the driving of both race and track day drivers . There has been one car on a hot hatch day hit the tyres at Clarks this was caused by a fluid leak getting on to the rear tyres.Unfortunately we can not remove these because of the reasons above."

doesnt explain why no other tracks use anything more than a cone to protect the inner kerbs. They must all be MSA sanctioned too surely?
Someone is goin to write off a car or worse if they go sideways into the tyres.
I remember asking robin last year if he was going to a tracknight at KH, and he said something along the lines of "nah knockhill is rubbish" At the time, i couldnt understand it, i though KH was brilliant, but its only once you have been to english tracks, or Spa/Zandvoort/nurburgring, that you understand that the best KH has going for it is that its local. IMHO they need to be keeping us on there side, not alienating us.
As it is, i'll probably be going to the SIDC day, as i'm looking for somewhere to test my car before the Zandy/ring/spa trip and KH is handy for that

Because my zaust was a SC test mule it has gone back to Jim to get dissected. It will be replaced by his latest creation a 3inch bore through the system 8inch by 23-24inch silencer designed for max flow on Honda and Yota SCed cars but hopefully meeting noise regs. I will have it for Saturday along with Jim’s noise meter so anyone who needs a reading on their zaust grab me!
Also you up for meeting at FRB macdys on sat morning? see the meets section

Just thinking about this, it sounds like pish to me. How can Phil have been on a track night a few weeks ago that had no tyres up if it's part of MSA rules? And why were we told at the last SIDC day that they were a one-off? Things just don't add up and I can't possibly understand why the MSA would insist on sticking dangerous blocks of tyres on some but not all corners.
A simple answer would be to speak to the MSA, could they help?
Anyway, i am still laughing from the comments written on that website posted above
The big question is why would anyone (even a f*ckin soapdodgin weegie ned) post this crap,. You look like the pure gallus wee dangleberry you are. I hope you wipe that Chavalier and yourself out in some horrific accident, before you kill someone else. You never know -you might even make it onto Reporting Scotland.
His response is comical, and go on.... own up who was it?!

If the video was still online then you could point them at the caterfield smashing into the pile - it looked dead safe, very controlledsimon wrote:I will mail them later.
