Hey all,
What's the consensus on green stuff pads on an S1 - good or bad?
Usage is mostly fast road driving with 4-6 track days a year.
Never used green stuff before but have been offered a set relatively cheap so if they were decent I'd maybe take them

Simple answer; don't.
I used Carbon Lorranine RC5+ pads for quite a while, (road and track use) and they were great. Last year, having already spent quite a bit on the car, and with no track days planned I got some EBC yellowstuff pads. At first I thought they seemed pretty decent, but as time went on, their braking performance was not nearly as good, and the breaking feel was less than the CLs. Eventually (after may be 3K of road use) they got grumbly, so at the weekend, I put some 65% warn CLs back in, and they are a lot better. They are however a lot pricier. The Mintex 1144 seem to be well regarded (and they are not too pricey) but I have never tried them. HTH

I found that they were OK generally but became woody when you drove hard. I haven't used them again.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Thanks guys,
I had CL's on my last Elise and they were amazing (but pricey). I only have two trackdays planned for the rest of the year so I think I'll just see the current ones out and get CL's again in winter.

The Elise pads seem to last a fair while so they are not too expensive on a £per mile basis.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Agree with Dom. Avoid green or yellow stuff. Tbh, probably just avoid ebc pads in general. The discs are ok

CL pads seem to be getting a bad reputation on Seloc etc (falling apart) so I went back to Pagid RS42s which are excellent.

Cheers Ed, not necessarily after pads, just if they were decent I'd get them for a good price.

Minted 1144 are probably the best cost/ performance compromise

Avoid them like the plague, I had a set delaminates from the back plates, the friction compound was welded to the disc.
Can only be glad it happened on my driveway and not on the road/track.
Best pads IMO are the pagid rs42s for good mix of driving

Another vote for RS42. CLs are revered too. Anything else is false economy. Except Mintex 1144s which have used when pennies are really tight. But all in all RS42s are still the winners for spirited road use and the occasional track day.

Green stuff are crap on a VX too. If you are looking for some decent fast-road pads then the 1144's are good and not too expensive. Work well from cold as well. Not as good as some of the CL's but a lot cheaper.

This. Way better than greenstuff or yellowstuff. Did at least one French Frolic with them.
You don't need to spend the extra on pagids.
