Re: Green Stuff Pads
1155s are worth a look too. Take a tiny bit longer to warm up than 1144s but a really good option for a fast road / track pad.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Also stick mintex on Elaine's car. Tried several sets of Greens on my old Elise (due to Pikeyness and avoiding the brake pedal) but I really shouldn't have stuck with them.
Only thing to mention is I don't agree with Stewart - if you have the extra to spend, spend it on better pads as the wear rate actually nearly balances out the cost differential and the Pagids (RS42s) do definitely bite better. Also Mintex chuck out lots of dust.

Re: Green Stuff Pads
CL5+ were very good as a fast road pad on a VX (never used on track).
Think they are ~£200 for a set (4 corners) vs. ~£100 for EBC or Mintex. For an extra £100 or so, as long as you're not going to go through 3 sets per year, just get the better pad and have no second-thoughts or regrets..

The problem is the CL5+ seem to fall to bits.
I'm using Pagid RS 42 and find them excellent. Never really liked the 1144s the car had before.
New wishbone bushes have also improved the car's breaking in terms of feel and lock-up point.
Re: Green Stuff Pads
I went from Greenstuffs (for a few sets) to Pagid RS42s and never went back. Less dust, more bite for more laps, and not noticeably more expensive when you account for how long they last.

Re: Green Stuff Pads
I fitted Green Stuff once, never again! I had brake fade on the motorway FFS, coming to the end of the M8 at Hermiston Gait so no major braking in the run up to glaze the pads etc.. Car was a VW Bora not an Elise but I'll never fit that trash again to anything. They were ripped out the next morning and OEM replacements were fitted. My elise had RS14's they liked a bit of heat but never let me down
never tried RS42 but have been out with Mass in his CR at KH and it certainly stopped well and never showed any sign of letting up... My lunch almost did though lol

Re: Green Stuff Pads
How do Pagid RS42s compare to CL RC5+? Anyone tried them back to back?

Re: Green Stuff Pads
I believe the was the earlier CL5 a few years ago. The CL5+ is different and remedied that issue.woody wrote:Rosssco wrote:CL5+ were very good as a fast road pad on a VX (never used on track).

Nope. It was the 5+. Will see if I can dig out a link.Rosssco wrote:I believe the was the earlier CL5 a few years ago. The CL5+ is different and remedied that issue.woody wrote:Rosssco wrote:CL5+ were very good as a fast road pad on a VX (never used on track).

Re: Green Stuff Pads
I read up on all that when making the same choice. I still went with CL5+ despite a few stories like that one. I noted that most of the examples were on later cars with ABS and decided to take a punt (buying from a popular source so I didn't get an old batch) as there were as many saying theirs were fine. I couldn't be happier. I'm on my second set now, this time on with new disks and performance is excellent. More than I currently need, the brakes were outlasting my own stamina at Spa last week. Performance from cold is very good for this type of pad. I will say though that they go through the disks a lot quicker. The dust from them is partially disk material which is astonishing. Just means you needs to clean the wheels up semi regularly or the dust rusts. Disks are cheaper than the pads anyway!

Re: Green Stuff Pads
Hard to tell exactly the Pagid pad spec so word of caution there...
They are black but may not be RS14.

These are also on fleebay £18.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pagid-Front-B ... 421wt_1059 I would be a bit suspicious.
