Engine Management System Warning Light

Post by snowgoon » Mon Jun 30, 2014 6:55 pm

Can I pick a few techie brains please?

S2 with Rover engine and 60k miles behind it. Newly MOT'd and serviced. Suddenly the EMS warning light has come on and stays on while running. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Assuming it is running OK chances are it's a sensor or wiring fault that the ECU has just defaulted out. The simplest solution is to find anybody with an OBDII code reader and post up the code here. Any service garage should have one these days simply because it's required for pretty much any modern car.

Of course if you're ever near Murrays in Edinburgh they will be able to check it out for you and tell you what's wrong and probably fix it :-)

Cheers,
Robin
