Thanks for all the suggestions. I think perhaps the driver training, brakes, and suspension should definitely be taken into consideration. So I will begin my search starting with either brakes or suspension. Any good suggestions for either of would be appreciated.

I also plan on buying an exhaust but there are many choices so not sure what would be better. My current thoughts are;

2bular "If I can get one"
Larini club sport
Or
Hangar 111 signature exhaust

Any suggestions as to what might be better?

Thanks

Danny

I found the EP exhaust good quality.

Worth noting I have a standard S1 but have very good brakes and suspension and it's a riot on track. Always worth increasing your experience in your car as it is, you'll find its a pretty capable piece of kit!

A little more power is not a bad thing though. what ever you want to do and will make you happy should drive your decision. :-)

I wouldn't bother changing the exhaust box - almost certainly no power to be had (when the engine is close to standard levels) and just generates noise which might be fun to start with but becomes a PITA eventually ;-)

That said, when the back box does pack up, the EP box is a good choice to replace it with.

Cheers,
Robin

Stick the £2k on the roulette table and spend it on Honda/Nitron/Limits day, bosh.

Put the money aside for now, enjoy the car and then use the money when you trade it in for another car :thumbsup

Ive just down a load of work to my S1, if you want to drive it to see what a 150-160BHP car fitted with Ali bell discs and Nitrons feals like then just ask.

You must be getting old, a noisy exhaust feels like another 50hp worth
I've got a Larini Club Sport, I don't find it too noisy but I don't use car every day and my wife does think it is too noisy.
2bular is a good choice as you should be able to choose the noise level, avoiding the drone on part throttle but get noise on full throttle.

For suspension the typical options are
Refurb bilstein's
New equivalent bilstein's
Gaz shocks
Nitron shocks (Street Series then adjustables)
Quantum (zero then adjustables)
And ES Motorsport have just introduced a new one can't remember name sounds interesting as rebuild is expected to be £50 a shock as it is considered road and light track spec.

Each manufacturers start around £700 for cheapest model then jump to £1000 upwards
Not sure best, if road only Bilstein's or cheaper models above, if need track, height adjustment or adjustable then Nitron have a good name but they do have to be looked after and rebuilt every so often. I've got a set of Nitron 1-way but only because 2nd hand they were newly rebuilt and similar price to a set if Bilstein's and surprise surprise much better than the 50000mile bilstein's I removed, might not be such a good choice if after 3years they need a £500 rebuild but I'll see.
Between Eliseparts , elisespares, seriously lotus and esmotorsport list all the above so worth browsing there.

My next thinking is maybe to refurb rest of suspension ie bushes as I think that will give me next best improvements but that should only be £200-£400 assuming DIY or only some garage help.

Scotty, I wouldn't mind a butchers round your S1 myself now that you've had the work done, particularly the brakes?
