Hairdryers next.
Only noticed this as I am using Verian's powerful one at present to dry off the exhaust manifold on N3.
Repairing the crack with Quik Steel Extreme, so hopefully when I start up it will hold.

We need a second National Referendum to put these knobheads in their place and tell them where to stick their Directives.

That may well be the next political argument - EU, in or out

They will be restricting the voltage on our dildos next.

Quik Steel Extreme! I thought you were going to look after this one. If you have cracked one primary at the head likely the rest will go.

Re: Hairdryers next.
Temporary repair Mike so that I can still use her up to the 16th.
Anybody know if the exhaust manifold can be removed and refitted with the engine in situ.

Re: Hairdryers next.
I hear kettles are next. Kettles FFS. As if they can change the specific heat capacity of water by limiting rate of power consumption of the device heating it up.
Unless there's a magical corresponding increase in efficiency of the kettle then taking longer to heat the water by reducing the power consumption will actually use MORE energy overall. Crazy.
I don't mind EU meddling, and I like the idea of small appliance energy/performance ratings, but I'm mad when they can't even meddle properly! It should be a measurement of efficiency and effectiveness of the closed system, not perpetuation general ignorance with "smaller wattage is more green" gibberish.

I was wondering about that too... was thinking about the Mrs doing the hoovering with a lesser powered machine, having to spend longer to achieve the same results.graeme wrote:

Re: Hairdryers next.
But with the hoover power thing, there are more decent appliances out there that are less powerful. Dyson don't make any devices that would be banned, and I reckon they make decent hoovers (though I've never owned one personally, and am allergic to house dust so don't use one either).
I agree though that the efficiency of the kettle taking longer will use more energy too, maybe they plan to make it take so long that everyone stops boiling it, or doesn't fill it as much, or buys something like a nespresso that is presumably really efficient in comparison - not so much with us Brits and our tea addiction (again, I'm useless here as I don't drink tea or coffee).
Come to think of it, I don't iron (jeans and t-shirt rarely need it imo), don't use a hair drier as I keep it short since it's disappearing, have a petrol lawnmower, even my soildering iron is gas. I guess I'm not the EUs target audience for saving electrical energy!
On another note, wouldn't the best place to save energy would be in large plasma screen TVs..
