Farmers are all "NO" judging by the posters in fields. Farmers appear to have a solid argument that all agree with. Would like to know why they are so strongly in the NO camp. Anyone know ?

I struggle to find anyone in Angus and Dundee in the "NO" camp (apart from the Renmure side of the world it seems ). Angus has been a solid SNP area since I was aware to be honest.

Uncertainty over EU membership, ie subsidies and market access? Joanna's uncle is a farmer and unwavering unionist (with giant 'No' of tyres in a field) but I got the feeling from his that it's a sense of Britishness first.

It will be interesting to see a breakdown of how each area voted after the event and to understand why there is support for one or other faction geographically
There may be counties or areas that want to affiliate with rUK in the event of a 'Yes' vote or areas that want to breakaway and start their own countries if it's a 'No'

I think we will find that the decision is dominated (as it always is) by the central belt and its population base, and politics.

Which kind of mirrors the supposed democratic deficiet that Scotland has with England..

This view interests me, given that the stories we're being told of a financially strong independent Scotland have a fairly strong tent-peg in Aberdeen oil. So, do Aberdonians really think that the politics of Scotland - and specifically this vote - don't feature one of the richest cities in it?

For what it's worth to me (living in darkest Ayrshire) a lot of the financial fairy stories being told by the Yes campaign seem to focus on the ongoing boom in Aberdeen, which is really far from my personal view of the majority of Scotland.

Two big blue "Yes" vote signs next to me in Old Deer, in the middle of the fields.

Will set fire to them tonight.

It gets worse. Galloway AND Sheridan together, though on opposite sides.

I couldnt decided between the two, so I broke it down, made notes, looked at their references, and decided. :thumbsup

Short, to the point, non-emotive, from a position of knowledge and experience. Interesting.

Yup - all of the UK's Farming and Fisheries funding comes from the EU - to be honest this is probably one of the larger concerns, because any instability there has a direct knock on to our supermarket pricing, most farms can only be sustained due to EU funding and without it they simply couldn't keep running as a business and food provider.

I had written to Alex Salmond, Nicola Sturgeon and John Swinney about what would be the best option for Scotland if there was not a currency union.
I offered them, in writing, a Yes vote if they told me.

Just got my reply today...
5 September 2014
Dear Mr Arscott
Thank you for your email of 8 August 2014 to Scottish Ministers in connection with the
Scottish independence referendum. Scottish Ministers value your engagement in the debate
on Scotland’s future. I work in the Elections and Constitution Division of the Scottish
Government and have been asked to reply.
The Scottish Government published Scotland’s Future (its White Paper on independence) on
26 November. You can read Scotland’s Future at
http://www.scotreferendum.com/.
Scotland’s Future highlights the position of the Scottish Government, noting on page 378
that
“We propose that the pound Sterling will continue to be the currency of an independent
Scotland.”
Chapter 3 of Scotland’s Future discusses Finance and the Economy. Further details on
currency and monetary policy, can be found on pages 109 to 111 as well as questions 8 to
15 of the Q&A.
The latest information about the referendum can be found on the ScotReferendum website.
Yours sincerely
:kermit :laugh
