It's also easier to stay at home and say you're going to decide one way but you may have a different view when it comes to committing pen to paper.

If nothing else comes out of this I hope people do start to get more involved and shake up the political establishment. The tail has been wagging the dog for too long.

Change is coming and it's long overdue.

I would like to agree with you Malcolm but if it's a No I doubt it'll happen. Expecting Westminster to change is a but like expecting turkeys to vote for Christmas. Seeing as they've managed to portray this as nothing more than the Scots hating the English, I can see them sorting the West Lothian question and ignoring everything else that's wrong down there.

I dunno Neil. I'm not so naive as to assume they will gladly start dishing out / devolving power on a regionalis basis, but what the referendum has clearly shown, as they there is a real desire for change over and above usual party politics. The Westminster system may be relectant, but they are not stupid, and they will have to bow to what will be the ultimate necessity for them - retaining the UK in its current format, i.e. with Scotland a part of it.

They know this is a cyclic question, and to ignore it is to strengthen the cause of those who want separation. Add to this the fact that the question of English devolution has started to gain momentum in some parts, I think there will be a definite shift in policy direction in the coming months / years..

And I don't think it has been protrayed as evil Scots, just as the narrow-mindedness of soem Scottish nationalist, on which, I agree with them..

I strongly believe UK devolution changes will ensue, regardless of tonight's result.

It may take some time but the juggernaut is rolling.

I look to Switzerland for inspiration. But be careful...their federal model means there's a referendum most weeks on some inane subject or other. So it isn't all rosy.

Realy Rosssco, because all the Unionist are completely open minded including the National front, who, let not forget are supporters of better together.

Expected better.

Campbell, I don't expect much will change if we have a no vote, don't think sweeping changes will fly in Westminster, but what little there may be I hope is to our benefit and not or detriment.

Nope, that's not what I said or implied (or didn't mean to imply). I am not saying they will easily surrended power, no government would (as we see in the Scottish government with their creeping centralisation of power). The fact of the matter is the political weight that has been created that will compel them to come to some arrangement that transfers more power. Whether these powers will have teeth, or be seen as token, remains to be seen.

I'm not sure if its part of a SNP plan, but they should perhaps "request" in a public manner, what additional power they think we should have. The at least we shall know the SNP's plan's to revitalise Scotland (they don't actually have a plan of course, but it should help expose them), and the UK government can respond in kind.

Mike,

Might not be sweeping and might not be fast, but change will come. The public can see to that. If they wish. Just doesn't need to be on such a big roll of the dice.

Let's see how breakfast goes tomorrow first, eh!

I note the BBC are avoiding indyref coverage until 10pm. At least on Radio Scotland.

It's the law, isn't it? No campaigning while the polls are open? So all media should have little more to say than "scotland votes today" on the hourly news.

Didn't stop the Yes pr*ck at the door today....

I have just had 3 Yes campaigners at the door too, they were under the misapprehension we were Yes voters ( or maybe that was their excuse for a door knocking campaign on polling day) the look they gave me when I put them straight was priceless, the kind of distaste I would imagine you would normally reserve for mass murderers or paedophiles
Also second day running we have had almost constant noise pollution from a van going around the village with a loudspeaker blaring out 'vote Yes' to a One Great Thing soundtrack

Perhaps the thing that interests me, is what is going to be the reaction of these people if there is a no vote..?

Will they just go "oh well, we tried our best, time to get back to normality".. Or will it be, "Lets organise a street protest, NO LONDON RULE.!!!"..? I'm referring to the hardcore, but there seems to have been so many whipped into a frenzy based on the hope ticket, how are they really going to take this?

I guess we'll know soon enough...
