Approximately 600 miles from Zeebrugge to Orange;
Here is a map of the four tracks mentioned;
A: Ibis Orange Hotel
B: Charade (Approximately 231 miles from Orange)
C: Ledenon (Approximately 29 miles from Orange)
D: Le Luc (Approximately 114 miles from Orange)
E: Paul Ricard (Approximately 92 miles from Orange)

I will definitely be having a sunrise or sunset run up and over Mount Ventoux
It's only about 30miles to the summit from Orange and I might even hire a bike if I am not too hungover

Definitely worth the drive on a 'rest day'. Although I nearly died of hypothermia one year when Robin and I got caught in a thunderstorm!
I'd be up for a bike (it might kill me!). Loads of hire places near the base of the climb.

Yup but normally the roads in France are faster except getting through Lyon.
It's worth it for this weather.

Hi Guys
Was tempted to look at the cost of getting the cars shipped out to Orange? Then fly to Nice & collect?
Any interest in that?
Orange is about as far south as you get Campbell, but in its defence you are a stones throw from some awesome roads, Monaco etc.
By the time you add ferrys, fuel and days off to the travel there and back, I think I'd rather ship it down there.
Will check and see if I can get a costing.

I'd be really interested in shipping. Certainly willing to pay a premium over the fuel/ferry/chunnel/hotel costs for the sheer hassle reduction (and less miles on the 2-11).
As I mentioned earlier in the thread:
"...flight ABZ to CDG then TGV connection (3 hour proper high speed train!) to Avignon is about 180 quid...."
http://www.airfrance.co.uk/GB/en/common ... france.htm
It's worth checking that from Edinburgh too. I understand the TGV is really well appointed, comfortable and can work out cheaper and faster than an airport connection. Nicola did it to Le Mans one year remember...
Also the TGV goes direct to Avignon which is only around 12 miles from our hotel in Orange (Nice is 170 miles away?).

Bailing out the 211

To be fair the 211 is not the ideal vehicle for France ... it's either too hot or too cold, or too wet to keep the fcuk thing on the road

I'm also interested in shipping. The Paris/TGV option looks good.

Yes, it's a big trip to get there but not having the road trip is missing out on most of the fun!
I would definitely be looking to extend the trip to include the south of France and the Alps on the way back.

Totally agree, the roadtrip was awesome, just waiting for Benny to sign up and then firmly book his pax seat...

I'm doing well to have a pass for the core event, so much as I'd like to extend, I'll have to keep it to the minimum nights required for survival of the long hacks through France!
I assume 16 Aug is the first night of accom?

Andy keep me in the loop for the transportation option
Doing that run from the ferry to Orange in a oner would be a killer so would be great to ship the cars down there!
Jet 2 do a flight from Edinburgh to Nice which would be ideal!
