Where would you rather park your Lotus?
Where would you rather park your Lotus?
Where would you rather park your car? When out and about in town or at work? Do you think it's safer from the knocks and bangs of other road users in a car park or parked on the street?
Just generally interested following some recent bumps/vandalism to people's cars.
(Car parks includes multi-storeys and standard ground-level city centre car parks).

I had a hire car recently and the first insurance question they asked was "will the car be parked in a car-park and/or used for supermarket runs?"
Maybe that should tell u something...
On a slightly different note I read about a guy who had Tesco (personal accident) insurance and fell down a hole in...a Tesco car-park. Result was that tesco had to sue the ass off of themselves

My only paranoia about car parks is that some tw@t parks so close to me that I can't get back in the car again! Getting into the Elise with a fat ass like mine requires door fully open!
However, I've decided to try to stick to the multi-storey car parks in Glasgow city centre, and just try to find a space on the end of a row so that I can park right over to one side, making sure there'll be plenty of room to get back in the car. Plus, the car parks have CCTV. Just need to accept the risk of a door bash.
I do park on the street, but try to get on the front or back of a row to reduce the risk of bad parkers bumping the car. Wasn't too worried about it and was quite happy with leaving it on the street until some of these recent stories, so now going for a car park when I can.

Dezzy, I used to park in a car park only, but am now forced on street. Touch wood, but for the last 6 months the worst I've had are some scrapes on the bonnet from ppl reversing to close (and over!) my bonnet. All depends though, I live in a not too bad area (I hope!) - if I were Ed, I'd never park on street!
As for the getting in and out - I find it easier to get in by winding down the window folly to increase the arperture if someone's too close. I've also had to climb in the pax side and over a few times, which is easier than you might think!

were i live aint too bad, but ive got three spaces so i never have to leave her on the street. supermarket car parks i always leave her at the other end and if i have to park her on the street ill find somewhere with a huge gap, (not cause im crap at parking) but it means no one will reverse over me!

you just have to ask SteveBanks about supermarket car parks...

After a taxi clipped his rear wing he was then parked in a toysrus car park where another car reversed into his s1 111s which shunted it forward onto a bollard.
Then the car was written off!
I'd end up just getting home deliveries if that happened to me.
I always park at the empty bit of the supermarket car park, which doesn't go down well with the missus because she has to walk further!

I'm the same with supermarket car parks - always as far away as possible at an end space. Right enough, you do always come back to find some Brat Hauler (aka People Carrier) parked right next to you, even though there are about 50 spaces either side of you!!!
Off out to Glasgow tonight . . . definitely going for a car park!
