I've used CLCM directly since Willie retired and they were fine. OK, so they maybe don't have the insight into handling that Willie did or the patience for inane car suspension chatter that made the trip there all the better. But they were friendly and completed the work without issue. :thumbsup

If you are in Fife, then give John @ ladybank tyres a shout. John sold Mike Scib his current SC VX.

John and Lou_M on here have done my geo the last couple of times for me and I've always been very happy with it.

MMC are now using Redpath Tyres in South Gyle Crescent for tyres & geometry.
If you want to go direct call Mel Redpath (owners daughter) on 0131 334 7387.

Ahh sh!t, I went and booked it in for tomorrow at CLCM. Seemed ok on the phone but they did say it would have to be cash because their payment machine was bust (that was yesterday so clearly no intention of getting it fixed anytime soon.) Too many negative stories here to try them out as the geo is not that bad at the moment. Will try Redpath so see if the can do it tomorrow or soon. Cheers.

So went over this morning to Redpath but they said that they couldn't remove either front track rod end (totally ceased) and they cant get into the rear for the undertray which they say they cannot remove.

So I guess a hacksaw and a couple of new track rod ends will be needed for the front.

Question: When I can see the end of the rear control arm (outside of the undertray) why do they need to remove the undertray? Surely you can adjust it using the outside adjustment?

I'm guessing there's an inboard adjustment involved too?

Ok thanks. So when anyone else needs rear tracking adjusted do they always need to remove the undertray? For me to do that means the car cant be driven therefore needs to be done there. And they said they cant remove it (aren't allowed) how do they do Murrays cars then?

Always best to remove your undertray before geo. Some allow more access than others but either way removal avoids the issue. It's ok to drive your car without the under tray to the garage.

The rod is threaded and twisted as part of the adjustment so both ends must be undone.

If its an elise stick it in the window.
The front track rods should be reasonably easily released. It may need some WD40 or heat but should be OK.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

So expecting a big fight I put on some penetrating fluid and both released no problems. Not really sure why they couldn't have done that.

After 11am on a Saturday, they close at noon. Can't explain it.

Lol

Getting the tray off is easy enough. Lining it all up again to refit is the hard part!

I suspect that if you book the geo via MMC and just dump the car there, it will arrive back with the geo done and any tray/seized part issues resolved at probably not very much more than the direct price you paid to the sub-contractor.

Cheers,
