I'm helping KH / KMSC get a list together of folk that are interested in competing. There weren't many Lotus' involved last year, so would be good to see some out.

2015 Class Structure

There are some minor tweaks to the classes for 2015 to try and make the classes fairer.

Pro: > 450 bhp per tonne
A: 351 - 450 bhp per tonne
B: 271 - 350 bhp per tonne
C: 211 - 270bhp per tonne
D: 161 - 210 bhp per tonne
E: <160 bhp per tonne

Also Team Trophy and Road Car Championships to contest as well as the Class and overall King Of The Hill

Round 1 - Sunday 19th April 2015 Knockhill
Round 2 - Saturday 23rd May 2015 Knockhill
Round 3 - Sunday 24th May 2015 Knockhill
Round 4 - Saturday 25th July 2015 Knockhill
Round 5 - Sunday 26th July 2015 Knockhill
Round 6 - Sunday 20th Sept. 2015 Knockhill

Costs...

The entry fees are

- One day event = £175
- Double Header= £265
- Full Season (6 rounds) = £750

Second Drivers

- One day event = £150
- Double Header= £220

Structure....

4 sessions throughout the day
20min open pit warmup
20min open pit practice
3x2 hot lap Qualifying <scored>
1 hot lap final <scored>

Having done both years, all I can say is that it's been great fun and very rewarding. There's a real sense of competition without the bumper to bumper racing that some might not want to expose their cars to. I average about 30-40 laps per event with 7 potential point scoring laps (6 qualifying and 1 final)

For me, this moved my driving to a whole new level. It is amazing how, without the traffic, you can up your commitment and transform your lap times.

Don't be put off by the regs - you simply compete on a 'power to weight' ratio. For scrutineering purposes, the car needs to comply with one of the MSA sprint classes.

As a taste, here's my final run from July this year. The out lap is all about getting tyres and brakes hot before maximising speed over the line and the flying lap itself.

I'm interested but as usual time is the enemy, I'd say 50:50 at best.

As a very rough calculation I assume it would be safely in class C (see below)?
and 'Road-Going Specialist Production = Limited production unmodified road cars (S11)'?

sounds near enough right Ali....

Power train losses of 15% were closer to those seen by 4wd cars, so maybe use a 12% estimate. Who knows what will be closer until its tested/certified though

12% would give ~230whp assuming the power is as per Lotus states.

so ~270 whp/tonne - right on the edge of C and B. Eat a couple of pies in the morning and slot into C

I cant see a problem with the 2-11, but maybe check with Renny (scrutineer@superlapscotland.co.uk) to make sure there are no surprises.

100 kg driver

No way Ali, are you planning on putting on 20kgs over Xmas?!

I was working mine out again as I'd still like to give it a go. 193 WHP (assuming 12% loss), 880kg car plus 90kg driver still gets me in class D at 200 whp/ton. Probably slightly less than this given the aircon and carpets will mean it's probably heavier than the lower estimate.

I think the book weight on the Touring is 916kgs so probably slightly more than that.

I'm more than 90kgs in my birthday suit so no argument there.

At this rate I might make Class E.

Just ballpark and it would be whatever it is...and whatever class.
