body shop for repair and spray dundee ?
Morning , young chap at work didn't spot he had a flat and managed to take the car door down a metal rail. Upshot is he needs a body shop in Dundee for a repair and spray. Can you recommend anyone please ?
Thank you

I think I heard that Chris G's dad may have retired now, not sure.
That's where I had my car painted a few years back, and where Cammy's 40r was painted, and I think others on here had some paint work done too (Renmure?).
The painter that worked on my car, Paul took a lot of pride in his work, nice guy.

I've used tayside autos before (admittedly when Chris's dad was still there) - best body shop in the area.
If standards are still the same I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Perfect. Thank you.
He went into Arnold Clark this morning and left with a quote for £1300 !
To put this in context Invergowrie Motors (who outsource granted) £600 !!! (UPDATED to say this is P&H Auto Dundee).
Tayside Autos came in at £900 although was an over the phone quote.
Thanks for your time lads, great help

Charlie (Chris G's dad -and my uncle) hasn't retired and is still there from dawn 'til dusk doing a crackin' job!

Sorry for the false info, I can't remember who I thought mentioned that he might be retiring..!
I should really pop in and say hi next year, when the Lotus is road legal again, they are always busy though, it'd maybe be odd just going in for a chat!

Chris, it was probably me who said he's retiring. That's the plan anyway, he's just not got round to winding down or advertising the business.Corranga wrote:Sorry for the false info, I can't remember who I thought mentioned that he might be retiring..!

Don't think I would go anywhere else!!
I was in there a couple of weeks ago chatting about painting my Ultima side scoops but he put me onto someone to wrap them in c/f. I am sure he didn't mention retiring tho

Gargh, was just going to get murrays to repaint my car but now thinking I should just do the extra miles and take it to Charlie.
I assume murrays use willowbrae? It'd be handy to get Craig's team working their magic while the clams are off though.....
Chris, how much were you for the full job if you don't mind me asking? I'm basically wanting to replicate the type 49 scheme but in blue with black wheels.

That's what always amuses me, it's not always about bringing the jobs in, collecting the cash and then getting the cars out as quick as the next one's coming in with him. If he thinks it's not worth doing he'll not hold back in telling you. If he thinks there's another option, he'll suggest it. If he thinks you're wasting your money he'll tell you. Ultimately, what the customer wants, the customer gets (probably over and above their expectations too) but he'll always guide you down the right path, even if it means he'll not be taking any business from it.renmure wrote:Don't think I would go anywhere else!!

I could be viewed as rather biased though.

Chris and I have suffered years of car related criticism from him! I think he's given up on us now...

Oh, 'retirement' is a swear word in there!
