Original order was for Pirelli Winter 270 Sottozero which they were showing In Stock but they simply cancelled my order and refunded me without any explanation. When I inquired they said they had the tyres but they were DOT 2012. Worth watching out for.
Anyway all ended well so looking forward to some snow to see how the Alpin's and X Drive work together :thumbsup
:thumbsup not bad at £160 each as well.

Opting for a nice new set of summer tyres for this winter on the Panda, for better or worse...

I figured our Alfa is on All Season tyres if it gets really bad and the combination of 7 year old cracking Goodyears on the back and rubbish Avons that cause wheel spin mid wet roundabout (in a car that's named 100hp ffs...) is getting annoying,

I opted for Uniroyal Rain Sport 3. As I say, I don't expect winter tyre performance, but hoping they are decent enough in the cold / wet to see me through a Dundonian winter :blackeye

Ordered Goodyear 4 Seasons for our mighty Panda the other day!

Will be interested to see how they compare to full winters.

It's the vector 4 seasons that I have on the Alfa. In my experience, they are better than summer tyres in the winter (ie, they improve going and stopping in the snow/ice) but they aren't necessarily as good as you'd think in the wet, and are obviously a bit compromised in the summer too.

That might sound a bit negative, but all in all, I'd say they are a great compromise, and something I've definitely consider again in future.

Scotty are your winters run flats or do you have a space saver?

So....a mild dumping of snow during the night in Dundee, freezing temps, followed by more snow around 8am has caused utter havoc. School run and dropping wifey at work in town centre which normally takes 30mins tops took 1.5hrs. Dundee City Council/Tayside Contracts have a lot to answer for. Bus services were cancelled! For a couple of inches???

Decided to try wife's new Citigo (narrow tyres, low power) and it fared ok, although snow on top of ice is always gonna be a struggle. Still amazed at folk in E Class mercs getting stuck on steep slopes etc...

Why? Wide tyres, rear wheel drive and auto is not a good combination for snow. On winter tyres they would be decent enough. I bought a couple of snow sox this year as I'd just bought new tyres so hopefully this'll stop me from getting stuck on mild slopes like a lot do.

I sat on Spey Drive for 10 minutes watching 2 cars at the top slide around, then the 6 in front of me slowly turn around and go back down, then drove the panda past the 2 stuck cars with no issues..

1 was a BMW 1 series convertible, so I guess normal tyres plus rwd and snow = useless. The other was a galaxy our something with a lot of smoke / stream / exhaust gas surrounding it and that unmistakable smell of clutch...

Ahhhhh you misinterpreted me Donald.....I meant I was amazed at the fact they still venture out....this chap in particular got approximately 20 feet out of his garage, which is on one of the canny slopes on the south side of the Law, just up from Dudhope Park.....the getting stuck bit was no surprise lol

That'd be me I'd give it a go. I stay at the top of a hill so getting out is easy, getting back in is entirely different though which is why I bought a couple of sox to get me up the hill (worst case I just leave it and walk.) :thumbsup

My neighbour just leaves the Merc in the drive if it's snowy. I think hitting the bollard at the roundabout last year in the snow made them rethink. I did put winters on the other half's Nisan Note and I can't wait to try it on some snow, I think it'll be awesome with it's high ground clearance etc. 8)

I now have winters on the mighty ST, so combined with its fairly light weight (1088kgs) it will hopefully be fairly reasonable in the poor conditions. Already noticed a big improvement in traction over the warn summer tyres that I was using until recently.

Meh, my old panzer E wagon wore Conti winters all year and was only stopped when the ride height became a problem.
