C/H oil.
Re: C/H oil.
I also get 2000, sometimes 2500 litres at a time and thought I was being smart by filling the tank in sept at 50p/litre. Now rushing to go through it so I can order some more cheaply

Difference is I order every 6/7weeks and have a 3,300l tank, along with a ton of coal very three weeks.

is there a limit to how much you can store at a residential premises? we're building a house and so is a mate of mine. was thinking of putting in a couple large tanks and stocking up
Re: C/H oil.

Blimey, that's a lot.tut wrote:Difference is I order every 6/7weeks and have a 3,300l tank, along with a ton of coal very three weeks.

We seem to average 4 tanks/yr so probably 10-11,000 litres. It was more when we still had the Rayburn. The 2 multifuel stoves stoves are more occasional use so I think a ton of coal does for the year. I did buy a chainsaw tho and am the proud owner of my own big pile of logs as opposed to buying them at the garage. Unfortunately I have less trees now

Officially there is a limit of 2,400l for home use if VAT is charged at 5%. Above that it is classed as Commercial and VAT is taxed at 20%.
You might get some leeway from your supplier, but not for 15,000l in one go. However I see nothing to stop you ordering lots of 2,400 on the trot.

Bloody hell tut thats serious amounts of oil !
Mind you 'towers is a serious size!
We use about 1200-2000 litres a year, and like you Jim, i stocked up at 50p a litre, put in 1200 litres,
Considering a top up again soon, just whatever it takes to brim the tank.

Re: C/H oil.
aye. stuff that Tut. thats a horrific amount of oil.
we're currently using 2-2500ltrs/year. thats in a 15yo 6 bed house with 4" of wool. the new house is a bit bigger but will have 7" of kingspan(equivalent to 14" of wool). i'm estimating that we'll half our oil usage
