Toelinks and geometry set-up
Toelinks and geometry set-up
Evening all,
Fews things going on in my life that doesn't allow me to get down to MMC for an MOT and toelink changeout.
So ive chosen to use AW Autotech and the car is booked in tomorrow.
I need some advise : how much should i expect the geometry set-up to be and what should i ask for ; normal road i assume?
Cheers

Anyone?
Re: Toelinks and geometry set-up
Depends what you want to use it for, on my S1 I usually get 340r fast road settings, which work well for road and track.
I would not expect to pay more than £80 for a geo, IIRC.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm heading over in the next hour.Dominic wrote:Depends what you want to use it for, on my S1 I usually get 340r fast road settings, which work well for road and track.

Re: Toelinks and geometry set-up
You need to be sure that they have the correct settings in their database. The elise is perhaps a little unusual in that it has toe in at the rear as standard.

Re: Toelinks and geometry set-up
Hi , for road use you dont want to go to far, as the car will be a bit strange on uneven surfaces, and wear the tyres quickly.
Front Chamber 1 degree
Rear camber 1.5-1.8 degrees
Front toe 0.5 - 1mm out total
rear toe 1mm a side
Not a bad place to start.

How did you get on? Use AW usually, but never had them set anything up - didn't think they had the proper equipment to do a full geo, only toe..

Picked up the car today and job done. The elise passed the Mot and toe links and suspension sorted. Ive had it out on the road for approx 30 miles and seems fine apart from alot of greasy handprints over the bodywork.Rosssco wrote:How did you get on? Id use them again as its not often handy getting down to MMC each time, although ill try my best to use Craig and the team in first instance!
Re: Toelinks and geometry set-up
I use Paul Bowers Motors in Dundee. He has Hunter laser alignment gear, I usual set to 340r settings, though I think the difference is only tighter ranges.
I think he charges around 45 for a measurement, and adds on for adjustments up to around 80 if he does front and rear adjustment.
He did a measurements day with mx5 Scotland, they did the geo measurements in the morning, then a run in the afternoon, he didn't do adjustments though as seized bolts etc could hold things up. Not sure there would be enough interest here though, and not sure what he charged
