Suspension
Suspension
Turns out my vx220 shockers are leaking
I need some new ones on soon before my trackday. Understand the suspension is same as 111r currently.
Does anyone know what brand I need to order to replace these?
I was advised from the garage that they look like the standard bilsteins but obviously I am a bit concerned incase I ended up with different shocks from the front
Thanks
Stewart

Re: Suspension
If they are bilsteins, then it is likely that bilstein will be able to refurbish them for you. I am away on holiday just now so don't have bilsteins contact details, but if you do a search on the forum, you will probably find them as I have posted them up in the past.

Re: Suspension
The standard VX220 suspension is Bilstein. Note that the spring rates are different for NA and turbo (though I'm sure plenty have fitted the wrong type and noticed no adverse traits).
The Bilsteins fitted to S2/3 toyota engined Elises and Exiges will also fit and relatively low mileage used sets can be picked up for around £250-£300 on here/SELOC/vx220.org. Alternatively you can get a new set for about £650.
Bilstein can also refurb your current suspension for around £80 a corner.

Re: Suspension
The vx suspension is not the same as the 111r suspension, its just that people swap on the 111r suspension as its very slightly stiffer than standard and handles the bumps really nicely.
I had them on mine.

Re: Suspension
I had 111r/exige Bilsteins on my blue Vx which I am thinking about fitting to my current Vx.

Re: Suspension
What I meant to say is that the suspension is same as Elise 111r so it looks like from mikes post above it's just an exige suspension they would need to orderGBOBM wrote:The vx suspension is not the same as the 111r suspension, its just that people swap on the 111r suspension as its very slightly stiffer than standard and handles the bumps really nicely.

I really want the same suspension as I like how it currently rides.
Thanks for replies, will hunt the forums to see what's available.

Only issue with that is time off the road. I was informed the price was a good bit higher (close to price of the shocks)
Anyone done this recently who can advise?
Will try and give them a call today
