S1 S160 (now 111S) in Dundee a few times

Slightly more than a std S1. But many consider it a great evolution of the model. 25 more bhp from VVC engine, close ratio box, much more comfy seats.

The 111s has the VVC engine, which produced 143BHP and was nicely torquey. Combined with the CR box, which standard 160s did not have (as well as not quite having 160 BHP IIRC) the 111s was not actually any noticably slower than 160s. In my opinion, the 111s is a bit of a forgotten gem.

Popped by this morning, after my dog walk.

Had a closer look, Azure blue I reckon, looks good considering it's sitting on flats etc.... and it is a 111S.

Big house split, confirmed by 4 buzzer buttons at main door, top button had a name with GST initials so common sense prevailed

Bzzzzzz: "Hi, are you the owner of the Lotus?" "Yes"

"Can I have a wee chat about it?" "I'm going out very soon"

"Oh ok....I've noticed it has been sitting for quite some time, would you consider selling it?" "It's not for sale, no"

"OK thank you..."

So that's that.

Sitting there unused on the east of Magdelan Yard Road where it meets Riverside Approach, just checked street view on Google Maps and it's sat there....real shame IMO

Always worth aksing the question on things like this, it costs nothing and 99 out of 100 arent going to be offended by being asked.

I found an old porsche 928 sitting in a barn some years ago, didnt think anything of it at the time

Couple of years later i visisted the same site again and there it was, still sitting there so I asked the question " is if for sale" and offered 3k. Was told a firm No!

Didnt know FA about them but thought it was worth a punt at 3k.

Turned out to be 1 of a limited edition of 42, made for the UK market in 1988 and was a manual 928 S4 Sport SE.

I'd not go as far as saying he was a dickhead, but he was a tad short with me, but then I did buzz completely out of the blue...so maybe given time he might soften.....and the car was surprising tidy at first glance...

...but not sure it's for me (s160 might've been a different story), so happy to let anyone else have a go at the card through the door approach....
